Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomMy 2nd floor Superior Suite was a little too warm for me, even in late September. Air conditioning would certainly be needed in the Summer months.
Horsted Place is a lovely historic building in a fine setting with great history. I felt there could have been more information available about the incredible history of the house. I had to google it myself to find out about it. The pianist playing during dinner is a lovely touch. Pretty terrace and garden.

United KingdomOur room was a tiny bit worn but it didn’t matter as very homely and clean. Thats the only tiny point we could mention but the positives by far out weigh this.
The staff were so considerate and polite. Just the perfect balance of friendly and professional throughout the stay. Our room was very homely, peaceful and relaxing. The meals were of a high standard and extremely tasty. Cant fault the place really.

The perfect country house hotel for a quiet stay. It has retained old world charm and has no desire to be a destination for the smart set. Staff are lovely, even putting our picnic for the next day in the fridge overnight. The gardens are beautiful, we really enjoyed walking around them. Perfect for Glyndebourne.

United KingdomWe stayed here for our wedding night and it was a lovely place to stay! The room and grounds were gorgeous and the staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the little extras we received made it really special. We also had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant which we really enjoyed. Overall I definitely recommend it for a romantic break!

United KingdomAs mentioned above, one breakfast was below the quality expected, but still edible. The evening menu (including the daily specials) did not change over the three days we were there, which was disappointing. However, I consider myself a fussy eater with several food allergies and intolerances, but was still able to enjoy a different meal each evening. Prices at the hotel are quite high, but in line with the quality of food and service that is achieved. We breakfasted at the same time each morning, but on each of the mornings returned to our suite to find that it was being serviced, which entailed us waiting around for 5 -10 minutes on each occasion. This was annoying and avoidable, but not the end of the world.
We stayed 3 nights and 2 of the breakfasts were excellent, but one was noticeably below par; I assumed that the head chef was enjoying his day off. All 3 dinners were excellent. The biggest positive at the hotel is the staff, particularly the restaurant manager and waiting staff - nothing was too much trouble and there was always a ready smile and a good sense of humour. The hotel building, gardens and grounds are impressive and kept clean and tidy. The suite was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

United KingdomSet in beautiful grounds, this Victorian gothic style manor house was a bolt hole for our late Queen and her family when it was owned by the Nevill family. Many original features remain or have been lovingly restored and the sense of a peaceful family home remains. The staff are excellent, the food is delicious and the attention to detail is perfect.

My friend and I went to Glyndebourne and stayed in a separate Junior suit. It was back of the hotel, looking onto a small courtyard. The room was very spacious and large double or king bed. The separate sitting room with one two seated sofa and one arm chair where we had a lovely long chat after coming back from the opera chatting up until midnight drinking camomile tea. Staff is all very polite and smiley and efficient (remember our room numbers). There were plenty of menu to choose from for the breakfast. Perfect stay. Thank you so much.
