Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomRoom could do with some TLC.. definitely needs a paint and replace the mouldy shower curtain. No information given on arrival: breakfast options, restaurant times, checkout etc

United KingdomThe weekend we attended, they were hugely understaffed & I felt very sorry for the staff that were on shift, as they were running around non stop! Also the whole hotel could do with updating interior design wise, our room was fine but their was a temporary window repair on our window that wasn't great, the bathrooms though were newly done.
The hotel itself is lovely, the location, the building itself & interior details etc like the sweeping staircase! The staff were very kind & the room was very comfortable. They were also very accommodating, when we needed to change our room before getting there.

NetherlandsRoom was very warm (but I was very kindly changed to a new room the next day). Staff are very kind and helpful but at dinnertime sometimes forgot part of the order, this was then quickly remedied. Room key mechanism was a bit disfunctional, had to have it reset twice.
Staff are very kind and helpful, hotel is situated in a stunning location and was convenient for both business and leisure. Breakfast and dinner options were sufficient.

United KingdomWas away on a walking holiday with a friend and had booked a twin room. On arrival, we were placed in a double. On querying, reception were polite and apologetic, noting the error, but had no other options available. We survived!

United KingdomOur room was a bit shabby, with marks on the walls and just empty holes in the bathroom door where the hooks had once been. And the shower was very erratic, going from tepid to scalding hot without warning. The room was also unbearably hot and stuffy as the heating was on full blast (in June). Fortunately we were able to open the window so we were able to sleep comfortably and we also got to hear all the lovely birdsong outside.
The room and ensuite were a reasonable size, very clean and the bed was large and comfortable. There was also a decent hairdryer and a good selection of tea, coffee and biscuits in the room. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and the menu was a bit limited and unimaginative but fine overall - the highlight was the cheeseboard, which was excellent. The buffet breakfast was good, with plenty of hot bacon etc, cereals and fresh fruit, but I would have liked a few more cold, continental-style options.

United KingdomOur room looked out onto a brick wall more or less, therefore very dark . Room was a bit tired looking, cracked tiles in bathroom, windows very tatty. Breakfast was a little limited if you didn’t want a cooked breakfast. The fruit only consisted of a few slices of melon and a few grapes on offer.
A beautiful location and some lovely parts in the hotel itself. Room was clean and bed was very comfy and we had tea and coffee making facilities, iron , hairdryer . Friendly and helpful staff.

United KingdomThe heating was on all night so not as comfortable as it could have been ( probably could have sorted it but only there for one night).
Great location in a lovely Cheshire village. We did a walk from the hotel to a waterfall and on to White Nancy, a rather unique folly (about an hour but be warned it is very hilly!). We stopped at the nearby Bulls Head on the way home for a well deserved pint! We had never visited this area before and were blown away by how lovely it was - well worth visiting. We also visited nearby Lyme Park - highly recommended. The hotel is comfortable with a pleasant restaurant. Large, comfy bed (Superior Double).
