Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesCan't think of anything!
We were a group of five women from the U.S. who had just completed hiking 170 miles of the South West Coast Path from St. Ives to Plymouth and we all LOVED Hoe Park House! Our 3-day stay there was the perfect cap to our time in SW England! Ian and Derek have lovingly restored and furnished this home with impeccable taste, including Derek's original art. The restored wood floors and pocket doors are beautiful. The kitchen was fully equipped including the best spice cabinet I have ever seen in a vacation rental! We enjoyed making a few meals to share at the large dining table. The fresh flowers and welcome basket were an incredibly warm and welcoming touch. All the beds were very comfortable - including the fold out sofa in one of the living rooms which easily became a fifth, private bedroom. The location is excellent with the house on a quiet side street across from beautiful Hoe Park but very accessible. It is only a few blocks from the bustling Barbican with its many yummy restaurants, shops, and historical sights. When we had finished our walk on the Path at Torpoint, we were able to use the (free to walk-ons) ferry to cross the river into Plymouth, then easily take a bus to a couple streets from the House. We were also able to later easily access the SW Coast Path in Devon for a morning hike.

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing! All perfect!
This is our second time at the property and it was as good as the first time!! The property is exceptionally clean and comfortable with everything you could want. The location is perfect - close to the seafront, cafes and restaurants, but in a quiet spot with a really handy parking space. Just opposite the park so useful for the dog. The owner is so helpful and even checks everything is okay after you have arrived. Lovely hamper on arrival, even including some treats for the dog. We will definitely be back ☺️

United KingdomNothing, everything was perfect, communication, getting into the house, the basket for us on arrival, everything was above expected.
Received a message via WhatsApp 24 hours prior to arrival explaining where the keys are and the code to the key box. I can not fault anything with regards the communication from Ian.

United KingdomAppliances were very sophisticated but I would have liked a simple little microwave to do a quick warm up of drinks. Also, since the key pad is at basement level, we found ourselves going in and out that way, so some coat hooks on that floor would have been useful.
Location within walking distance of The Hoe, The Barbican, and the City Centre. As a family, we took the ferry to Mountbatten and walked along the coastal path to the café above Jennycliff beach. The younger ones went down to the beach. Also we all went on the hour long boat trip, and to the Aquarium. Old ones did a round walk from Shaugh Bridge to Cadover Bridge. Beautiful. Younger ones spent more time in the shopping centre. Accommodation very spacious and comfortable. Instructions for appliances very clear.

A beautifully restored home. Luxurious, spacious and comfortable with every facility you could want. Contact from Ian, the owner, was superb but unobtrusive. The location couldn’t have been better- a stone’s throw from all the attractions but tucked away in a quiet side road over looking green spaces. A personal welcome note and gorgeous gift basket was a genuinely lovely touch - even Mabel, our dachshund, was included. I would love to return and have no hesitation in recommending to anyone.

United KingdomNearest bathroom from the top floor (4th level - basement, G, 1, 2) is the one on the mezzanine between G and 1, so down 1 and a half levels. Long way to go in the night! (down 3 flights of stairs and back up again) Car parking space is very tight, down a narrow lane and then between 2 white metal posts that are barely wide enough to get through.
Immaculate house that has been superbly kitted out and decorated. Literally everything you could want is provided and the welcome basket of afternoon tea was a nice touch. Excellently located between the Barbican and The Hoe, you're in the heart of everything and only a 5-10 walk from anywhere you'd want to be. Great host who communicated often and helpfully.

United KingdomIf you are not a lover of stairs then this place could be hard work - it is a four storey townhouse so they are to be expected.
The house is in the perfect location being close to The Barbican and The Hoe. The house itself was fitted out to the highest standards with huge rooms. I would recommend anyone to stay here, you will not be disappointed!

United KingdomIt is very difficult to fault the property. The mattresses were on the firm side for us but apart from that, everything was great.
The property was exceptionally presented, very spacious and extremely well-stocked with kitchenware. The manual was helpful and clear in its instructions and the welcome basket was well-received.
