There wasn't anything I didn't like about the hotel or the room I stayed in.

The look of the room. They provided a washcloth. The location was ideal and not a far walk from the train station. Multiple places to eat and get a drink. It was lively during the day but at night, even though I was on the ground floor, I wasn't awaken but loud noises.

I love the hotel and go again . But the first night was banging next door and 5 in the morning there was drilling . As my kids got autism they got a bit frightened. And the 2nd night some one was trying to open my door .

We had a morning where there was a fire alarm that awakened us at 7:40. Not the fault of the hotel. I would also note that if you have limited mobility be careful to inly book ground fl. At first the place was WAY too hot. If there is a heat wave this would be miserable. The hotel did provide two fans and we were able to open our top floor window. And cooled the rooms down quickly.

This was an adventurous booking. Families with small children would really enjoy this unique booking. The location was perfectly central, next to the Shambles. Check-in was super easy. Codes also helps not having to coordinate when you have multiple folks coming and going, dropping off purchases, etc.

Oh my god it was amazing, you felt like you were in a different time. So much to look at, the dark wood is very medieval. We all loved it. So quirky and fabulous. Also in a perfect location.

Hard to get any fresh air as there are no windows. A portable aircon is provided for the main bedroom area but the bunk area became very stuffy during the night. We found the fan in the morning…oops.

Excellent location. Fun theme for the hotel that is carried into the rooms. Even thought it’s small, you have everything you need. The bathroom was clean and modern.

The room (the sorceryum) was nothing short of magical! And the bed was by far the comfiest I've slept in. The whole atmosphere was quirky and imaginative. Absolutely loved every minute.

We all had a fantastic stay here it literally couldn’t be faulted. We stayed in the Librayum, it was amazing. Fantastic decoration and even had that old book smell which I love. Spotlessly clean and fantastic location. The Shambles is literally around the corner. Everything about this hotel was perfect and we definitely without a doubt would stay again. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience. We will be back.

Loved the location, loved the room and felt safe and secure with the lock system. Loved the quirkiness and themed rooms, definitely will be making future plans for another stay.

I didn’t like the constant minor key “gothic music” in the hallway were just too much if we spent any appreciable length of time in the apt. The movement sensors on the lights within the apartment were a real problem at night when people moving through the vestibule or bathroom automatically flooded light in upon others who were sleeping. I’d suggest deactivating those.

Great location. Our family, being Harry Potter fans, loved the decor. The whimsy and magical touches were spot on.

Gap in bed head meant your pillows disappeared during the night. Mattresses could have been better, the singles were very soft and the double was lumpy.

We stayed on a Friday in the Principium magical room and if you want sleep this isn't the room for you, the mattress needs replacing, it was noisy till early hours and very hot in the room as we couldn't control the heating, no opening windows either, would give 10 stars if it wasn't for these points

The actual room and whole vibe was amazing, the decoration was very different and quirky, the location is probably the best in York
