Comfortable, immaculately kept and in a very convenient location, with parking. Great breakfast options, and the owners were lovely. Excellent communication and a long list of recommended places to eat provided before we arrived: which was very helpful.

The only thing I could comment on is that the bathroom was quite small in our room but it was still really clean and lovely, and reflected in the price. There could have been maybe some hooks to hang your towel up though - tricky with bifold doors - and perhaps a breakfast option for early risers such as porridge pots or cereal - we left early on a hike and missed the incredible breakfast.

Lovely room, great breakfast, really welcoming owners and fantastic value for money. Location is great and free parking was very useful and secure. Was greeted by a host who couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome and would stay here again if in Ambleside.

A gorgeous B&B in a lovely town. Clean and comfortable with beautifully decorated rooms. Hosts were helpful and had great experience in running a B&B. Home made breakfast was great. Centrally located with shops cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance. Car parking is available with the room, which is a bonus as parking is difficult to find. Easy walk to the Ambleside Ferry about 15 to 20 mins away.

Steve and Caz have been wonderful hosts during our stay. We received good recommendations from them even before we arrived as to the amenities and restaurants in the vicinity which was very helpful. In addition to that, they provided us with the maps of the walking tours free of charge. The rooms were immaculate with a very personal touch to each room. The breakfast each morning was exceptional and catered to each and every guests dietary needs and delight. I would highly recommend their accommodation as it is not only within walking distance to everything in the village including the bus stops and walking routes but also because it is a quaint and comfortable experience into the traditional English abode in the country. The bed did feel a bit hard for me..and the room was on the small side for the money we paid but guess we paid for location.we did have everything we needed .

Fabulous stay in central Ambleside. Steve and Caz are great hosts; friendly, welcoming and helpful. They prepare a great breakfast and the room was clean and comfortable. The free parking space for the duration of our stay was a great addition. We would not hesitate to recommend this B+B to our family and friends.

Very comfortable, good location in central Ambleside, good breakfast, nice people. Lots of local information available for guests. Useful feature was nightlight in the bathroom - low light comes on when it detects someone has come in. For people coming by car their private parking would be a huge advantage. Parking in Ambleside looked like an extreme sport!

Hillsdale is in the perfect position for exploring by either boat, bus or car and is within easy walking distance of many restaurants. Caz and Steve are excellent hosts providing every amenity you could possibly need eg wine glasses, flasks of fresh milk. The breakfast was superb with endless options and very well cooked. The bedroom is nicely decorated and even has little extra touches of automatic night light in the bathroom and hot water bottles should you need them. There is a secure car park nearby where they have spaces. We would definitely recommend staying here and hopefully will stay again ourselves

Great breakfast choice and really good location within walking distance to all that Ambleside has to offer. Bus stop 2mins walk away for further adventures within the Lakes. Lovely hosts, very comfortable rooms and parking included which is a bonus. Great B&B.

The lady and gentleman we met who run this B&B were very welcoming and had a great sense of humour, we felt very relaxed and safe here. The room was exceptionally clean and so cozy (we also found the beds to be super comfy and even the pillows!) we had everything we needed in the room including an en-suite bathroom and shower, and a hairdryer! The location was absolutely perfect, right in the middle of Ambleside, literally a two minute walk to the restaurant we went to eat in. For the breakfast, we ordered what we preferred the night prior, and I think it might have been the best breakfast I’ve ever tasted. Lovely atmosphere and we felt so relaxed and comfortable. 10/10, we would book to go here again absolutely!

Had a lovely stay at Hillsdale b&b, room was spacious with comfortable bed and tea and coffee. Close to bars restaurants and shops and has secure parking (if you book direct with them you're guaranteed) which was a bonus. Would definitely recommend and will be returning in the near future 😁

We prefer a king size bed, but would have comprised the room space. Otherwise no complaints.

Room was compact, but beautifully furnished with quality fittings. The bathroom had a large walk in shower. Plenty of tea/coffee. Full size wardrobe with hangers, spare pillows, heater and fan available. There was a great breakfast choice, and arrived hot and tasty. Proprietor was friendly, and interested but not overbearing .

Brand new and superbly comfortable bed. The room was immaculately clean. The decor throughout was great. The lovely couple who run the business are fantastic. Always happy to help, genuinely nice people. Great, freshly prepared breakfast cooked to order.

No real complaints. Room was quite small and so we wouldn't want to stay more than a couple of nights, but it was perfect for a short stay.

Hillsdale was an excellent B&B, situated in the heart of Ambleside and walking distance from restaurants and shops. Our room was clean, tastefully decorated and included helpful extras including toiletries and tea/coffee. Excellent choice and fabulous breakfast cooked by Caz and served by Steve in the delightful breakfast room. Free nearby parking was a big benefit. We would definitely stay again.
