The shower's water pressure was rather low and the space in the shower very cramped so I kept banging myself on the soap holder as I turned.

Excellent breakfast. Beautiful view. Liked everything except......

The breakfast was amazing, to be honest I would travel back just for the breakfast! it was far superior to any other B&B or hotel! The setting is gorgeous, we ate in the conservatory which is surrounded by a back field with sheep and a baby lamb. Super peaceful and quiet too

    Leaving.

Libby is an excellent host and very welcoming. The house is very conveniently located for the Hay festival, but far enough away to be able to enjoy the countryside. Our room was large, clean, and comfortable with substantial closet space and good amenities. We were delighted by the treats left on our tea-tray each day!

A more updated bathroom would have made the B&B perfect.

This is a lovely B&B to use as a base for visiting the surrounding area. Libby could not have been more helpful and friendly. The room was beautifully clean and comfortable and had all the facilities you would expect. Breakfast was delicious with an excellent variety to choose from and the views from the garden room where breakfast was served are fantastic. We were the only guests at the time so had the king sized room which had an en-suite bathroom (a little dated but very clean). The en-suite also had a door leading to the landing and there seemed to be two further bedrooms but no other bathroom. It would be worth double-checking that you would have a private en-suite bathroom before you book. Otherwise we couldn't fault this wonderful home-from-home.

    I couldn't stay longer

Everything. The room was beautiful, the view was exceptional. I woke up to rainbows across the valley both mornings. The bed was very comfortable, the temperature great. The bathroom was amazing, the bath a great size. Libby left some cakes in the room the next day which were delicious with tea. The breakfast was fantastic! Nothing was too much trouble. I felt so very welcomed and cared for. I will definitely be returning!

The shower. We are not great fans of electric showers. It was ok though.

Friendliness, room and location. The water was fabulous. Tasted like spring water. Breakfast was amazing and bed was comfy.

A very relaxing stay in a very large room with a big bathroom (a separate bath and shower). A beautiful view of the Golden Valley, with sheep grazing behind the house. Breakfast is excellent (why stay in a hotel and pay extra?). A car is essential to make the most of the location, but Hay-on-Wye, the Brecon Beacons and South Herefordshire are easily reached. I can highly recommend a stay in a part of the UK slightly off the usual tourist tracks.

I really enjoyed my weekend at Highfield. I wanted to relax and switch off and that place was absolutely perfect. The room had everything I needed, breakfast was delicious and the surrounding landscape was stunning. Libby and Roddy have been fantastic. They are such lovely and caring hosts. That we had to get up and leave too early for a second of her delicious breakfasts!

Libby was an amazing host. She made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was delicious - the smoked salmon scrambled eggs (a house specialty, were the best ever.) She recommended things to do and helped us coordinate shipping two boxes back to The States. We could not have asked for a nicer, kinder host. I highly recommend a stay at her lovely establishment!
