Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdommaybe the tv could have done with having better Freeview channel reception as there were only a very few channels available
This place was decorated in such a wonderful way that it feels like a medieval bedroom in many respects. The breakfast was great, staff very helpful, I loved the castle and its grounds and being able to work around it after closing time was great too. The energy of the place is wonderful.

United KingdomNothing! See above!
The room was beautiful, the bed was very comfortable, the ensuite was spacious and well appointed. The breakfast was superbly presented and perfectly cooked. The staff throughout were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Access to the castle grounds after public closing time and before morning opening was a real bonus and part of the cost to take into account in the bed and breakfast. The castle was floodlit at 9:15pm, unseen by the public. The tour of the castle, for which we were able to be first in the queue, was enlightening both about Ann Boleyn and the Astor's amazing reconstruction work. The jousting was an unexpected bonus. All in all, a superb stay of just one night but absolutely memorable. We liked everything!

United KingdomA certain member of staff needs to change her haughty attitude, plus, I had asked for a fan because of night sweats (when I booked) I didn’t get one, and such a fuss was made when I mentioned it - it seemed like they just didn’t want to give me one for some reason.
Love History, so it was amazing staying and visiting this place - especially being there first thing in the morning and exploring before the crowds got there.

United KingdomGreat experience at Hever Castle. The rooms are decorated with great attention to detail and the rest of the wing, which you can enjoy as part of your stay, does really well on taking you back to that part of history. Worth the money, even more so because the castle ticket is included. The only thing that didn't work for me was the heavy duvet, which was too warm for me this time.of the year. That's personal choice hence why I don't mark it down.

United StatesWas a bit of work to get the suitcase up the steps - they will porter it up if you need it. It’s a historic property so we didn’t see any lifts.
Amazing grounds and fantastic staff. So much to see on the property that you need at least two days here. Anne Boleyn (mother of Queen Elizabeth I) spent several years here at the castle in her youth so there are a lot of references to King Henry VIII as well as the Boleyn family.

United KingdomThe Moat cafe could have been better. Some serving counter staff's attitude wasn't very sympathetic to customers needs .Seemingly quite uninterested in their job. Prces really upset some people. It was a bit of a shock and 2 different people questioned the bill. Tiny portion of chips about 5 pounds. An older lady asked for a glass to drink her drink from. She had a can. The disinterested response was brief and to the point . Such a contrast to the staff on the grounds gardening and fabulous staff in the B and B. Our memory of the Moat cafe has been far better on previous visit. That said it was only the odd members of staff.
Breakfast was lovely. Well catered for vegans and vegeterians. Nothing was too much trouble. Staff were great. I had a room change and they were lovely about it. Very very happy with the room we moved to. Bed was comfortable and I have pain at night so was very grateful and impressed . The staff could not have been better in the B and B. It was also peaceful and quiet everywhere.
