Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaAn issue with finding somewhere for dinner. Maybe an option could be a light meal, for those that don’t want to leave the property for dinner? Or an agreement with the Pub Henry V111 for a dinner menu option (that wasn’t pizza?)
An exquisite property, professional & very friendly staff - the room, breakfast & guided tour was 5 star!

United KingdomThe only thing i would say is that it would benefit from a restaurant onsite for evening meals. However not a huge problem as there ware several lovely pubs serving food very close to the Castle. We ate at The Wheatsheaf and the food was delicious.
We liked everything about this property. Our room in the Astor Wing was absolutely beautiful. Breakfast was also delicious served in a fabulous tudor style dining room. We especially enjoyed being able to wander the grounds of the castle after hours. The staff were excellent too.

United KingdomA couple of micro points: 1. The coffee at breakfast was very weak. 2. It would be very helpful to offer bread that is both vegan and gluten free. The gluten free bread offered contained egg. Everything else was superb.
Breakfast was superb. Great choice and variety for vegans with gluten intolerance. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful.

United KingdomA fridge in the room would be ideal. We struggled during the night trying to get to the bathroom without putting all the spotlights on and waking each other. It wasn’t until the next morning we found that the bedside night lights were unplugged. It’s a shame they don’t have their own restaurant for evening dining
This was our second visit this year. Hever castle is a beautiful place to visit and we love the grounds and the fact that you can walk through the gardens to the local pub. Very nice breakfast

Everything, our room was fantastic. Our room was huge and looked amazing, we had all the amenities necessary tea, coffee etc .The only thing we had assumed that we would get was missing, no bathrobes but they did get us some when requested so all good.Next time I will remember to read the small print, everything else in the room including the shower was great. The receptionist took me to our room and gave me all the important information. But best of all we had breakfast in the actual castle 🤩🤩🤩it was great to eat in the room that I had marvelled at for such a long time.

AustraliaFire alarm went off twice during the night. This was not acknowledged to be an inconvenience by the staff. Morning staff were not aware the incident had occurred.
If you want to visit Hever Castle, this is the way to do it. Guests get complimentary access during all days of their stay and discounts at gift shops. Early access to the castle grounds is a reason to stay here. It was wonderful to see it in early morning light and before the crowds descended. The musuem inside the castle is also a rare treat. The Rock Inn nearby is WONDERFUL. Skip the nearby Tavern, and drive the 10 minutes. It is worth your time. A refreshingly local pub after all the franchises. You won't realise what you've missed until you've stepped into this haven.

United KingdomWe stayed here for one night and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The accommodation was outstanding, our room in the Astor wing had plenty of space, a very comfortable four poster bed, and a lovely big bathroom with a roll top bath. The staff were all very friendly and the breakfast served in the Tudor dining room was superb. The castle itself is absolutely amazing and really shows off the history of the building, it's quite clear to see how much of his fortune Waldorf Astor spent restoring and renovating it over a 100 years ago. The gardens and grounds are beautiful and extremely well maintained, the Italian garden is worth visiting on it's own. We would definitely recommend anyone to visit this place.

United KingdomThe breakfast buffet was a basic choice but all were first class quality offerings and the ingredients of the cooked options were very good. The dining room was extremely comfortable and a stunning period room but it was very quiet and felt uncomfortable to talk or make noise with the cutlery. Also there is no restaurant on site for evening dinner and must find a place to eat off the premises which means making a drive along dark winding roads which is not for the faint hearted.
Absolutely stunning hotel accommodation brimming with period features and a Tudor vibe. Luxury rooms with comfortable beds and super clean and everything works and in good condition. Really really nice staff from check-in to breakfast, smiley faces and uber friendly and helpful. Includes tickets to wander the extensive grounds out of hours and access to Hever Castle which is a beautiful home rich in history and interest featuring huge characters from the Tudor period which was fascinating. It was lovely to walk the grounds and visit the Italian Garden and along the river on a dry, warm and bright Autumn day.
