Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomSadly the dinner on our first night was not good. The meat was either poor quality or badly cooked. I was not the only one to return my meal. Replacement meal wasn’t much better . Still paid full price for it 😒 Went out to eat the following two nights .

JerseySeveral defects in the room. We were in the old part of the building. The shower needed a complete replacement. The room was comfortable but underwhelming, especially the old brown wool blanket we used to keep warm!
Dining room and pub area were modern and inviting

The room was lovely and clean, the restaurant evening meal was beautiful, not a long wait. The bar was comfortable and clean. Staff were all professional and friendly, and I loved the idea of the hot water bottles offered out.

United KingdomWe have been to this hotel a number of times and will continue to use whenever we are in the vicinity, they have a good bar area and a good restaurant, we prefer the rooms on the canal side but don’t mind the rooms on the first floor, second floor is a little much when you’re our age (70s)
Location is spot on for us, only a five or six minute walk to the town centre. Breakfast is always plentiful and usually good quality but could be a little hotter sometimes,

United StatesI kept smelling the faint odor of urine from my bed and finally confirmed on close inspection it was indeed the mattress. I mentioned it to a houskeeper in the morning and the problem had been taken care of when I returned in the evening. The room was in the front overlooking a busy road but I did not need to open the window and the blinds and very heavy drapes were quite effective at blocking out the noise.. If the weather had been warm and the window had to be open it would have not have been pleasant. The stairs were a bit of a hardship for me.
Great Breakfast, roomy hot shower. Nice single room.Manager kindly helped me out with a mistake I made with my booking. The train station was right across the road as was a large supermarket. Ten minute walk to town center.

United KingdomThere was a wedding at the hotel on the Saturday night and although the event concluded at midnight, guests stood outside talking loudly until about 1.0 am.
We have stayed at this hotel previously but on this occasion we were accommodated in a different wing. Our room was spacious, well furnished and scrupulously clean. The bed was very comfortable and facilitated a good night's sleep. Breakfast was very good with a wide range of cold and hot food.

United KingdomThere is no 24hour cover on reception. People can enter the hotel through the back door without being seen by any staff. The lift failed to reach the 2nd floor on 3 occasions while we were using it, but we could make it return to the ground floor. On 3 separate occasions in the restaurant my food choice was not available, but the kitchen had not forwarned the waitress.
Location next to the Railway Station and the canal. The latter made the short walk into the town centre very pleasant.

NetherlandsThe place tried to modernize the look and installed barn style sliding doors for the bathroom. It looked nice but when the door was open it covered the light switch. So you needed to close the door to find the light switch then open the door to use the bathroom. It took me 10min to find and turn on the light.
