Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was nothing to dislike, instead top tips: bring wood for the firepit as there is none provided and the tripod over it is the only cooking facility. Advised to bring a camping stove and your own table as the host asks you don't use the decking or their own furniture for this purpose. And if you're not a seasoned camper like me, bring crocs or similar as there is gravel to navigate between tent and toilet facilities. Lastly there is ZERO phone signal, so contacting the host would have been impossible. Therefore, make sure you ask all questions before going, and if you have kids who will need screentime, download before you go.
The site was excellently maintained and everything clean and beautifully presented. As the only tent around, the only bothersome neighbours were sheep and birds! There is actual hot water meaning showers were wonderful. Beds were super comfy and there was a decently stocked chest of plates and cutlery. Plenty of solar powered lights and lanterns provided, and even solar powered chargers. You have lovely views of sunset over the hills which we loved. Overall a really cute little stay which we would highly recommend.

United KingdomIt didn’t impact our stay but it would be great if the gate to the road connected to a fence like on the other sides of the pitch as the side onto the road is the only one with no secure fencing.
Tent was so homey and has everything we could possibly need in terms of utensils and bedding. Perfect for our first attempt of camping with 2 small kids - it was definitely made easier by having so many home comforts. Pitch was a little wet and muddy but we prepared for that with wellies and it was absolutely fine apart from the dog got very mucky.

United KingdomMy only improvement would be a pathway from the decking steps to the fire pit for wet weather, as this would improve the ease of use when grass is muddy/wet. I wish we’d packed wellies. We had lots of rain!
Wonderful location. So rural and beautiful views. There were some wonderful local villages and beaches within 30 mins drive. The bell tent was fantastic, so fun and beautifully furnished inside. The fire pit and pizza oven were great for eating (we also brought a gas stove and hot plate from home would recommend) and having a drink in the evening was just splendid. A lovely hot shower too. The owners were really kind and friendly.

We enjoyed how it was in a very isolated and quiet area because there weren’t a lot of people around and we could relax in quiet.

United KingdomCeris was very warm and welcoming. We had a great time, thank you Ceris. It was relaxing and quiet (next to a lane but virtually no traffic). The birdsong was amazing. The pizza oven worked really well (kindling fine to use) and the kids loved toasting marshmallows over the fire. It was comfortable and luxurious camping and we hope to visit again sometime.

Just got back from Herons retreat and I can't say anything bad.. We had an amazing family holiday. The tent was very clean and comfortable and the location is wonderful. It has been one on the best family vacation we have had. Ever!. The host's were amazing and I can't wait to book again. It is definitely worth every penny and more!!! We had a sun set boat ride, not too far in New Quay and saw wild dolphins, A lovely meal that didn't cost much at all for family of 4 and visited lots of beaches all in driving distance. I can not recommend going Herons retreat more!!!! My son was very sad to leave.

Please do not believe any bad reviews !! We left today and we really didn't want to go home . Herons retreat is beautiful we had such a lovely time . Communication was great the owner is such a lovely lady and it's obvious how much love she has put into this. The tent is clean and of a high standard the views are breath taking we loved sitting around the fire at night with the fairy lights on watching the sun go down with a glass of wine . United KingdomWe had seen photos of Heron's Retreat on booking.com but it's not until you get there that you can appreciate the beautiful serenity of the location for yourself. Nestled on top of a hill surrounded by trees and fields as far as the eye can see it is the most magical place especially in the evening when the sun is just setting. The cows in the meadows in the distance just help to create the perfect scene. The bell tent itself is beautifully decorated and we were made to feel right at home. We would go as far as to say it felt very homely inside from the outset and a great place for the family to relax in. The toilet and shower facilities were great and it was nice to have a good warm shower at the end of the day. Even though the farm is just around the corner and you do have a few houses down the hill, when you're outside the tent on the decking you do feel like you're in the middle of nowhere surrounded by fields and countryside. The town of Llandysul is only about 10-15 minutes drive away and is great as there's a Spar mini-supermarket, a Pizza place, a Chinese takeaway and an Indian takeaway amongst a whole host of other little shops and galleries. Everyone is super friendly too and you're made to feel like a local straight away. Heron's Retreat is the perfect place for visiting Cardigan, Poppit Sands and St Dogmaels, as well as the beautiful Mwnt Beach and the North Pembrokeshire coast. The hosts are also very welcoming and helpful. We highly recommend coming here and staying in this beautiful location, it's a little gem of a place that will totally enchant you.
