Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe stairs, I suffer with rheumatoid arthritis and I did struggle when I had a bad flare up as they are extremely steep. I couldn’t take my baby down the stairs, my partner had to. Also the bathroom door is very stiff, it jammed and I got locked in!
Easy distance to everything and central but not on the main road which was lovely. Very charming and cosy little cottage.

United KingdomThe stairs are a nightmare for anyone with mobility issues (me). The toilet is so close to the wall that it is very difficult to use. The location, while fantastic to be close to the beach, was in a pokey little alleyway, full of commercial bins and overgrown weeds. I wouldn't have felt safe if I wasn't with my husband.
This is a beautiful cottage, picture perfect, clean and pretty.

United KingdomWe loved our visit to Cromer, spending three nights in Haven Cottage. The cottage was immaculate and decorated beautifully with a nautical theme. Super comfy bed and excellent shower, with fresh, clean towels. We could not have asked for more. The Red Lion pub is a stone's throw away from the cottage overlooking the sea, welcoming and friendly. The Albion is also a stone's throw away, again super friendly with music events. If you like Chinese food, there is also an excellent Chinese at the top of the street and a fantastic fish and chip shop a short walk away. Just a few minutes' walk in town and to the beach where you can walk along the pier. I would highly recommend Haven Cottage myself. and my partner will definitely return again.

United KingdomLiked everything but personally could add a shelf in the shower for bottles and maybe some empty space downstairs to keep our food bits. Neither caused a huge problem.
Loved the way it has been renovated without losing it's charm. Everything has obviously been carefully planned and is very good quality. In a great central location, near the beach but tucked away which makes it quiet. Beautiful roses round the door!

United Kingdom1)The stairs! Very steep and curved...handrail up the side but no hand grip at the top to get up last 2 stairs. I do have mobility problems. Don't tend to read reviews before I go otherwise would have picked up on that. It would be useful to note in the property details. We did manage but it wasn't easy. 2)I was unable to connect to Wi-fi at all in our 3 night stay on my Samsung tablet. Disadvantage...as I don't have a smartphone. I tried the code given several times during the stay but no luck. 3) Minor point...I did manage to work the oven eventually but some instructions would have been helpful. 4) Loo seat is wonky...not very safe! 5) No parking but we knew that and knowing Cromer well we were able to sort that out ok.
Location good as very close to the sea. Property inside all very clean and well appointed. Firm left us crisps, biscuits and teabags. All bedding clean and adequate.

United KingdomTiny steep stairs very treacherous for me being a bit rickety. Wouldn't like to chance them after a few glasses of wine. They are practically a vertical climbing twist. Had to bum shuffle down and steady self on the wall to keep my balance. Suitcase tricky to get up. Location great but absolutely no nice view at all. Tucked away in an ally way and front windows overlooked an untidy courtyard from other neighbours and a wheely communal bin. Back toilet window off the bedroom overlooked roof tiles but at least you could hear the seagulls if you opened the window.. Great for 1 or 2 nights or if you're out all day and just want to crash its pure luxury!
Luxury of the finish, very beautifully done. Nice touch leaving the welcome food and wine. Everything you could possibly need. Close to high street and beach an easy walk

United KingdomThe staircase was extremely difficult to use. Very tight angle to try and use. The hand rail is a waste of time as it is so close to the wall. Any one who is less than able will struggle to use it safely. No mention of a sofa bed. No mention in the welcome book as to where the bedding is stored for the sofa bed.
