Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe staircase was a challenge for my mum as she has mobility problems - there are six flights of stairs and a few flights don’t have a bannister - I think we would still have booked it though even if we had realised this.
It was clean, loads of space and had everything we needed for our stay. The furniture was all very comfortable and clean and the flat just had a nice homely feel to it. The location is perfect - 50 yards from the car park, and two minutes from the harbour and beaches plus it’s right next to some lovely shops restaurants and pubs.

United KingdomThe stairs 😁 There were a lot of them and wasn't aware of this. Only an issue as my partner struggles with them in general due surgery.
The apartment was exceptional. Beautifully decorated and very clean. Nice little touches like an alarm clock in the bedroom, teatowels, washing up liquid/dishwasher tabs and salt and pepper. Owner also gave recommendations on where to eat and local taxi numbers. The bed was THE most comfortable one I've ever slept in. It was also really close to the harbour and some good little pubs.

United KingdomThese are small things that do not spoil your stay, but the apartment is on the 3rd floor, so there are a lot of stairs, which makes it a bit difficult with small children. We missed having nice warm blankets in the living room on winter evenings. The windows were leaky because they were wooden and you could hear the local pubs and traffic.
The apartment is very nice, clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The kitchen is fully equipped. The living room had a lot of entertainment in the form of games, which made our evenings with the children more pleasant. Two TVs, one in the living room and the other in the master bedroom. The welcome in the form of coffee was very nice. Beds comfortable. There is a fold-out sofa in the living room, which is also comfortable. There was a parking lot and shops nearby, which made our stay much easier. Next to the apartment there is a lovely, nice Italian restaurant. We highly recommend it. A small but charming town. There are not many attractions in the winter because everything is closed for the winter, but we had a nice time.

United KingdomPillows were a little uncomfortable but that’s personal preference. The bath/shower was also leaking so the floor got really wet.
The property is so clean and so well thought out with lots of little touches to feel like a home from home. The flat is very spacious and beautifully furnished. The location is very convenient, right in the centre with some lovely little cafes nearby. Sheila the host is very attentive and ensured we could check in early to get ready for a wedding at Tunnels Beaches. Whilst Ilfracombe itself is a little rundown, there are some wonderful places to visit nearby. I’d recommend: •Coastal walk to beautiful little village called Lee •Coastal walk to Hele Bay •Watersmouth Area and Broadsands Beach •Tunnels Beaches •Boat tour to smugglers Caves Places to eat: •The Lime Kiln •Thatched Inn •Smugglers •Antidote

United KingdomI cannot think of a single thing that didn`t reach the levels of expectation , in fact everything was exactly as advertised or better , my only regret is that i didn`t meet the owner to compliment them on a very well presented property personally.
Location and facilities were above excellent , would recommend my friends and family as close to bay and all amenities , i will book again as off season is my preferred time for a break.

The accommodation was FANTASTIC, home from home with the added extras of location, Furnishings were very good quality. Could see a lot of thought went into furnishing this accommodation. Everything was there to complete a perfect stay. The apartment was central for shops Quay , restaurants and the town centre. The apartment views at night was so pretty being on the 2nd floor. The 14th century St Nicholas Chapel on Lantern Hill is a must, spectacular Chapel and views over Ilfracombe. The Assistant there was very informative ,(Historian) . She directed us to Chambercombe Haunted Manor, which dates back to the 11th century and is worth seeing. Unfortunately it was left in trust and now due to lack of funds it is now up for sale. It really is worth a look. So much more to see in Ilfracombe
