Spa was excellent, though the lockers could not be secured without a personally supplied small padlock. I've mentioned the staff. Not all appeared unhappy but some did. I don't know the reason but, of course, I and my wife noticed. They were, however, still good at their job.

The room, gardens and patio all lovely. The building and decoration very good. A good golf course attached though I didn't play this time, I have in the past. Location for Stratford is excellent

It was a warm night and we were unable to open the bedroom windows. There was no cold water and no hairdryer. This was the first time we had issues with this hotel and in fairness we complained after the first night and all three issues were rectified quickly.

We love the location and the breakfast is always excellent. We have stayed several times before.

Unusual noises at night sounded like big clap of thunder at front of property followed by loud mechanical sound. Woke me up several times which was annoying. We thought it was the extraction or air ventilation system.

Spa facility excellent the foot Spas and jacuzzi were bot working but we had more than enough to keep us entertained with the out door hydro pool. Very good breakfast.

Both rooms were quite cold, and the heating was not available. When I spoke to reception, they explained that the hotel's heating system doesn’t turn on until October, which is understandable. They did offer to provide portable heaters for the rooms, but unfortunately, this never happened. Given the age of the building and the older windows, the room was freezing, so I’d recommend bringing warm pajamas and bed socks. We also used the spa facilities and were disappointed to find that the foot spa and indoor jacuzzi were out of order. The outdoor pool was very dirty, with hair, leaves, and sticks floating in the water. Some of the loungers were in poor condition—rotten and breaking, with legs bending under pressure. The corners of the pool area were also dirty, and the shower facilities were disappointing, with no shampoo or conditioner replacements. We were told we had to be fully dressed to eat in the restaurant, but the only options available in the spa area were tea, coffee, and crisps. It would be nice if sandwiches or scones were offered for spa days. I understand that afternoon tea needs to be pre-booked, but I expected there would be other food options available. Despite these issues, we still enjoyed our stay overall. The staff were friendly and approachable, which made the experience more pleasant. Views and surroundings were worth the visit!

I booked two executive double rooms, both of which were spacious and clean. However, one room had water, as well as tea and coffee facilities, while the room my partner and I stayed in did not. It seemed like one of the rooms may have been upgraded. Both rooms featured large TVs, comfortable beds, and pillows that made it hard to leave in the morning. The shower and bath facilities were excellent, and the overall room style felt cozy and homely.

We stayed in a suite which was a little tired! Curtains hanging from rails an example. Noise from a wedding party was excessive at the main reception after midnight which should have been addressed by staff.

Lovely historic building set in beautiful grounds! Staff were very attentive. Great facilities gym and pool!

Spa facilities were limited. Staff were friendly but didn’t feel much enthusiasm, felt as though we were second priority as a wedding was going on. Evening dinner was below par but we ate it all so not the end of the world.

Comfortable beds, great breakfasts, exquisite grounds and good overall cleanliness.

The property is a little tired in places, stains on carpets and walls. In need of a little tlc. It is a little understaffed, especially on breakfast service, waiting for things to be replaced.

The property is very grand and imposing, it’s beautiful and in a wonderful setting. Lovely big bedrooms with comfortable beds. Saw a deer from our window in the gardens outside. Nice supply of bottled water, robes and slippers. The spa is fantastic, great features and facilities. Breakfast was great, lots of options including vegan on request.

Pillows not great quality. I enjoyed the gravalax but Caesar salad was rather basic for the price. Superfood salad lacking in flavour. TV had no working channels available.

The cost of food in the restaurant was high for a very mediocre menu and we were overcharged. 4 starters < £36 and 4 mains £85 equated to a £144 bill 😳 Paid £35 a head for wife and friend to use the spa on checkout day. They left early as some facilities not working and floor dirty with tatty poolside furniture Nice building and characterful, but lacked cleanliness in places…you could write your name in the dust on the large elegant mirrors.

Grounds were lovely and most the hotel was beautiful halls and dining rooms Room was dirty and missing basics i.e hair dryer  Room was half modernised with some things still looking dated while on some updated   Bed was fairly comfy but pillows weren't at all  Things fell apart (arm of chair came off) Bar was ridiculously expensive £7.50 for a cider ... Breakfast was below average, only half the items were available at any one time so you have to make several trips to get a full plate of food, some breakfast items were to hot to eat and some were ice cold  Shower didn't have detachable shower head, I thought rainfall shower was lovely my partner didn't like it as she didn't want to wash hair
