Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

GreyFriars was a wonderful stay. The suite was beautiful and spacious. The staff is excellent and a fabulous building. Cocktails at the bar are perfection.

United KingdomThe hotel advised it was dog friendly, when we went in for breakfast, a rather forthright lady chased after us and informed us that we could not take the dog in for breakfast! She then suggested we could have our breakfast in our room, or cancel and eat out! As the room was great, there is no where to sit and eat, we then asked if we could sit in the lobby, we sat at a high table which was really to small to get everything on it. There appears to be very little thought gone into dog friendly, all it would take is to use one of the other ding rooms! Clearly, unfortunately we wouldn’t recommend this hotel for dog owners.

We had driven from North Devon to Colchester, a long journey in the car. Upon arrival we checked in and had sadly missed out on dinner at the hotel because we arrived after the closing time for the restaurant. Being tired and travel weary, it was a total delight to be informed that the hotel had chosen to upgrade our room to a suite. I have never been made to feel so welcome before and the room was perfect.

We chose to stay at GreyFriars for our ten year wedding anniversary as it was located directly opposite where we got married- the minories art gallery. The building is absolutely fabulous and we loved the little hidden doors. It was a beautiful mixture of modern and old which gives the building such a wonderful character. We were absolutely thrilled to learn upon checking in that we were upgraded. The suite was absolutely amazing. On top of that we were also given complimentary drinks from the mini bar . We were so thrilled. Sadly I do not like beer however my husband enjoyed his Peroni. The staff also left a plate with truffles and chocolate handwriting (happy anniversary) which was a wonderful touch to our special day.

ThailandThis is our 2nd stay at this hotel. First time in 2019 and we had very fond memory of everything here. But this time in 2024, after Covid-19, we found the services and welcoming attitude have dropped noticeably. The Saloon service is good, but forgot one thing we ordered. Dinner was disappointing in term of flavour and the very long awaiting time for the dishes. Breakfast served was good, but no cheese/fruits/etc. that you could help yourself while waiting for the hot dishes.
We like the old-style English hotel. The rooms are well equipped, but not exactly the same. Reservations was very good at providing info and responsive.

The bathrooms were large and tasteful. The beds were extremely comfortable. Parking on site was fantastic.

Great location, very polite, attentive & welcoming staff. Lovely room, quiet & comfortable, tastefully decorated throughout the hotel. Excellent food, wide choice including gf options. The Terrace and lounges are perfect for relaxing. Great value for such a beautiful hotel.

The staff were happy and helpful at all times. when we visit Colchester in the future we intend to stay agian. Two of our friends stayed with us on this trip at our reconmendation, and were more than happy!

The breakfast is fantastic. We got upgraded when we checked in, and the room was a great size with a huge bathroom, which had everything we needed. The complimentary mini bar was a nice touch, as was good quality coffee in the rooms.
