Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomHowever the cold tap had a mind of its own it would turn on in the middle of the night. Paying for the carpark as disabled people was a disgrace.
We were in room 415 with a great view.

United KingdomThe entertainment was nice and breakfast was ok. All in all the hotel probably stopped in 80's era. It really needs major refurb. But for one night stop just before Dover crossing it's ok.

United KingdomNo view, I checked in early and asked for Seaview but told none were available. Only one pillow per person was provided, so had to request 2 more when in my view 4 pillows for a couple should be standard. Also no shelf in bathroom for toiletries. Tea coffee, sugar etc are placed inside the cups, which makes no sense as you need to use the cups, so what do you put the bits in...I used the top drawer. The water In the bath could not be switched off whilst using the shower so lots of water being wasted. Bathroom was very cramped. Beech furniture looks cheap.

United KingdomA lot has been done recently, and done well, to refurbish the hotel, and this helps resolve many of the criticisms levelled by other reviewers. But one drawback remains, and that is the very poor sound insulation between bedrooms. The guest in our neighbouring room was watching TV until 2am. And even though the volume probably wasn't set too loud, we could hear virtually every word, and that kept us awake. Annoying. We were probably unlucky, and we would have had a much more comfortable stay if the person in the neighbouring room had only watched TV until midnight.
Location, friendliness, car parking, excellent value

United KingdomPARKING - or lack of it! We arrived soon after check-in time and the car park was full. We had to pay £20 for a night's parking in the commercial car park opposite the hotel. Needless to say this has left us with a negative viewpoint of the hotel.
Pleasant room overlooking the harbour - all expected facilities and plenty of space.

GermanyPARKING!!!!!! certainly not enough spaces for the size of the hotel. Also 7 euros per device for WiFi was very expensive. Difficulty getting out of the underground car park due to selfish people practically blocking the way out.
Location for high street shops etc very good. Had no hot water in room to start with, but was quickly rectified. Check in process very efficient.

Abkhazia, GeorgiaIt’s located in a great seaside part of town. Nice pubs, fish and chip shops, access to the old town. Chronic car park shortages and local, plus resident budget hotel alcoholic drunks loitering outside ruin its faded grandure
It’s a relic from the 1970’s. A relic that in many ways killed Folkestone’s future aspirations. A vast budget hotel, with mostly nastily furnished budget rooms, that its current owners, Britannia Hotels have to fill, regardless of price, whatever the season. Bus tours, migrants, whoever. Its vast room capacity drags down the room rates for all other hotels and fuels an ever downward spiral for Folkestone. Budget tourists, even more budget, nee depressed town. So sad.

United KingdomPut us on 6 th floor with a dog ! We had to run every morning so he didn’t pee on the carpet ! Luckily he made it to the front door ! Suggest you make first floor dog friendly rooms ! Some plumbing issues toilet reluctant to flush , leaking shower but noticed they are trying to renovate the rooms . We didn’t buy meals package but were disappointed you couldn’t get just tea and toast in the morning! Had to have a full breakfast or nothing!
Dog friendly, great location , clean bedding.

United KingdomBuilding is quite run down and lots of people in it that look very poor. Probably wouldn't stay again, nicer hotels further down the road.
Room was nice size on 3rd floor. Kept find bugs on bed that thankfully weren't bedbugs but still worrying, probably from the window above the bed. Was OK for location but the building very much needs updating.
