The entertainment was nice and breakfast was ok. All in all the hotel probably stopped in 80's era. It really needs major refurb. But for one night stop just before Dover crossing it's ok.

No view, I checked in early and asked for Seaview but told none were available. Only one pillow per person was provided, so had to request 2 more when in my view 4 pillows for a couple should be standard. Also no shelf in bathroom for toiletries. Tea coffee, sugar etc are placed inside the cups, which makes no sense as you need to use the cups, so what do you put the bits in...I used the top drawer. The water In the bath could not be switched off whilst using the shower so lots of water being wasted. Bathroom was very cramped. Beech furniture looks cheap.

Doors squeaky and banged shut. Painting of walls and doors needs doing. Ceilings in main restaurant dirty. Obviously once a beautiful building but shabby now.

    Breakfast fine good choice.

A lot has been done recently, and done well, to refurbish the hotel, and this helps resolve many of the criticisms levelled by other reviewers. But one drawback remains, and that is the very poor sound insulation between bedrooms. The guest in our neighbouring room was watching TV until 2am. And even though the volume probably wasn't set too loud, we could hear virtually every word, and that kept us awake. Annoying. We were probably unlucky, and we would have had a much more comfortable stay if the person in the neighbouring room had only watched TV until midnight.

Location, friendliness, car parking, excellent value

PARKING - or lack of it! We arrived soon after check-in time and the car park was full. We had to pay £20 for a night's parking in the commercial car park opposite the hotel. Needless to say this has left us with a negative viewpoint of the hotel.

Pleasant room overlooking the harbour - all expected facilities and plenty of space.

Beds were super uncomfortable in 2 of our rooms although we were able to swap if we wanted but we decided not to as we were settled in our rooms.

We did stay here before at Easter and had an excellent stay with an Easter egg hunt & and a lovely carvery. However our recent stay was a little disappointing. A very long wait to check in.

PARKING!!!!!! certainly not enough spaces for the size of the hotel. Also 7 euros per device for WiFi was very expensive. Difficulty getting out of the underground car park due to selfish people practically blocking the way out.

Location for high street shops etc very good. Had no hot water in room to start with, but was quickly rectified. Check in process very efficient.

Super budget hotel in a lively area of a VERY faded seaside town.

It’s located in a great seaside part of town. Nice pubs, fish and chip shops, access to the old town. Chronic car park shortages and local, plus resident budget hotel alcoholic drunks loitering outside ruin its faded grandure

It’s a relic from the 1970’s. A relic that in many ways killed Folkestone’s future aspirations. A vast budget hotel, with mostly nastily furnished budget rooms, that its current owners, Britannia Hotels have to fill, regardless of price, whatever the season. Bus tours, migrants, whoever. Its vast room capacity drags down the room rates for all other hotels and fuels an ever downward spiral for Folkestone. Budget tourists, even more budget, nee depressed town. So sad.

Put us on 6 th floor with a dog ! We had to run every morning so he didn’t pee on the carpet ! Luckily he made it to the front door ! Suggest you make first floor dog friendly rooms ! Some plumbing issues toilet reluctant to flush , leaking shower but noticed they are trying to renovate the rooms . We didn’t buy meals package but were disappointed you couldn’t get just tea and toast in the morning! Had to have a full breakfast or nothing!

Dog friendly, great location , clean bedding.

The breakfast was very good. Dinner was ok but food was cold. Entertainment was good, Stephen on sound and lights is in wrong job he should be on the stage, he is great.

Building is quite run down and lots of people in it that look very poor. Probably wouldn't stay again, nicer hotels further down the road.

Room was nice size on 3rd floor. Kept find bugs on bed that thankfully weren't bedbugs but still worrying, probably from the window above the bed. Was OK for location but the building very much needs updating.

Upon arrival, the room looked well cleaned but we later found some rubbish had been missed behind one of the bedside tables. Similarly, the sheets looked well made until we untucked the duvet to find the bedding was not properly made, which was disappointing. Also, the bin in the room is quite small and they do not offer cleanings during your stay, you can only request for one the day before you arrive. However, the main problem was the bathroom - the shower/bath water temperature was very hard to control, went from extreme heat to extreme cold, and the water flow would suddenly go weak at times, making the experience unpleasant. Our shower curtain railing also fell off during our stay, but it was fixed the next day. Overall, the shower facilities and cleanliness aren’t the best, but manageable.

We were given a complimentary sea-view room. The hotel lounge was lovely and available with free wifi all day, it also had some arcade games and a bar. They served a buffet breakfast and dinner, and more food and snacks throughout the day. We had a chance to watch an event they had on too - ballroom / line dancing - which was very interesting. They also hosted bingo every night. The staff were very polite and helpful. The pool was quite small but clean and quite empty when we went (an hour before closing).
