Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

I find it difficult to judge this. For me and my daughter, the stay was fine. The room was a bit outdated and noisy. What I found very pleasant is that we had a kitchenette with its own refrigerator and cooking facilities. I was there with my daughter who will be studying in Colchester, so for this trip I didn't have many requirements. I would not choose to book this with my own wife. If so, I would want something more luxurious.

United Kingdom2 single beds pushed together. Quilt did not fit bed fully. Nobody on hand to ask regarding free wifi so unable to connect. Also on arrival my driving license was captured on a personal phone and my card details were written down as they have implemented a new policy of £80 deposit "just in case" although they said they would not tale anything without me knowing. Nothing of this was mentioned when booking. Would help to have a welcome booklet or folder with information.

United KingdomA menu for breakfast. We were offered a full English Breakfast but one of our party only wanted cereal and thought that was unavailable. However the receptionist told us the next morning that there was cereal! I didn't like paying the same rate for our room when our friends had a room on the opposite side of the corridor which was twice the size of ours and had room to move about the room. It also had a bath.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was miniscule and it was impossible to pass each other i.e one person had to stand by the door or be in the toilet so the other person could get to any other part of the room.

PolandThe restaurant was being renovated so no full service - options were offered - breakfast on order from 8 am but I had to leave before that; dinner was offered but no menu - limitations due to renovations so did not take their offer. Mixed cleanness - clean bathroom, but unsure about one towel, also webs around mirrors. Rooms not soundproof.

United KingdomThe bathroom is minute! It looks as if it has been taken out of a caravan and boxed into the corner.The chair had a wobbly leg which nearly caused an accident. When we arrived the man who checked us in told us they weren't doing breakfast.However,when we checked out,people were clearly eating breakfast... The beeping alarm in the lobby was quite annoying,and reading reviews,appears to have been beeping for months!
The bedroom was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Although the hotel is on a main road,we slept very well.

United KingdomThe room door kept jamming and we were given instructions on how to deal with the jam, even though it was not really a solution, it was a work around that worked 50% of the time. The result was when we've arrived late at night we had to try for quite a while until we've managed to get in. This would not be a bit deal, but for the price we've paid I would not have expected any of this kind of issues.

United KingdomHaving paid on arrival was told that breakfast was not available - despite it being clearly advertised at point of booking. Had this been for COVID related reasons such as staff self-isolating, I would have understood. However, the reason was that the kitchen was being rebuilt. This is not something which happens without warning - so at the very least I should have been informed in advance that they were unable to provide what they were advertising, so that I had time to make alternative arrangements. If a hotel advertises that breakfast is available (even at additional cost) - then it is up to them to ensure that it is made available at the price quoted. Not to do so shows contempt for guests. I will never trust any claims made by this hotel again and won't be returning.
Pleasant enough room. Quiet. Reasonably convenient for both railway station and town centre.

United KingdomWhen we arrived the hotel was locked & no staff available, after calling them someone turned up & we were told there was no booking for us, after 40 minutes and the arrival of another member of staff who found a booking, we were shown rooms in the hotel next door. The Globe hotel was very tired looking & didn’t look clean. The rating reflects The Globe Hotel and not the Star Anglia which was ok. However it’s a strange set up with no staff on hand should there be a problem.
We ended up staying in the partner hotel Star Anglian which was very clean & due to an upgrade a very comfortable room.
