Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBed wasn't the most comfortably, with creaky springs every time we moved. No bedside table on one side, and clothes hangers over the TV, so any long clothing would obscure the TV.
Beautiful location and views. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Food & drink was excellent. Bathroom was excellent, but far bigger than it needed to be. Extra space in the bedroom would have been appreciated.

United KingdomParking in front of the hotel is limited although there is space behind up the hill. Some of the staff could do with a little more training. For instance at breakfast, we had to find our own glasses and the waiter didn’t bring any orange juice.
The view is spectacular. Make sure you get a room with the view over the Menai Straits.

United KingdomStaff - there did not seem to be anyone in charge and I was greeted by staff on both nights who were capable but not particularly friendly. The second night of my stay I wanted to eat in the restaurant at 5.30pm and was told by the staff member begrudgingly that I could have a table but they needed it back by 7pm, I felt as though I was an inconvenience to the obviously more important people at 7pm. I was a paying hotel guest. It was the lack of warmth from the staff as a solo traveller that would put me off going back. When I asked for the bill, the male member of staff said he was busy, not 'I'll be right with you in a minute'...customers from my point of view were a slight inconvenience.
Location is fabulous, rooms fitted out to a good standard, very comfortable and clean, good parking.

United KingdomSteps leading down from the car park difficult to navigate. There is parking on the level if available. We were in room 8 and had to climb two floors with our suitcases.

United KingdomThe room was quite small (too small to walk round each side of the bed) but clean. The heating wasn’t on, which shouldn’t be a problem in August but we had Storm Lilian and grey, rainy skies so it was actually quite cold upstairs. The radiator wasn’t on so we asked and one member of staff said they’d boost the boiler for us. The heating then came on for an hour or so (enough to dry wet clothes) and then went off again. I think a bit more attention to this level of comfort in bad weather (not just winter) would be a good thing. It’s also situated on a busy road; we were walking the Coast Path which takes you up the hill and away from the main road. We had to go up there to catch a bus a couple of times, about a 2k walk; so unless you’ve arrived by car, you have a bit of walking to do to access transport links.
The hotel is situated right on the Menai Strait and the views from the dining room are spectacular. The food is also very good indeed. We ate there for three nights and we were impressed all three times. Definitely worth going to eat there. The staff were helpful and friendly.

United KingdomNo real issues.
A warm welcome. Very nicely appointed double room with comfortable bed. En-Suite a good size and spotless and everything worked perfectly. The food was excellent at breakfast and we enjoyed dining in on 3 nights. The menu had a small but nice choice. The staff were all friendly and Amy was particularly helpful. The parking was handy with extra spaces accessed from the main road. These we did not need to use. We did not hear any traffic noise from our bedroom.

United KingdomI wasn’t sure what to expect of the gazelle hotel as the price we paid was very reasonable in comparison to other hotels on the island. But wow, we were not disappointed, the location is absolutely stunning, the room was small but no complaints. The shower room was big, very modern and a great shower. The staff were all brilliant and very polite and attentive, food was excellent. We ate evening meal and full Welsh breakfast, good quality food and very delicious. I would highly recommend a stay at the gazelle. We will definitely return.

United KingdomJust a few critiques as mentioned above.
The location of the property is beautifully situated on the Menai and has gorgeous views from your bedroom window. There are a lot of stairs involved especially if you have to park your car at the top of the hill. The rooms are well equipped only criticism was the wardrobe facilities were directly above a dresser so we were unable to hang my dress up plus the dresser had the TV on it and the tea making facilities so I don’t think this is really suitable for a wardrobe. Also the bath towel is exceptionally small 🥴 Breakfast was delicious,, staff were pleasant. All in all we definitely would stay again 😊
