A lovely little hotel. Room was very spacious and clean. Hotel is ideally situated for trams into Sheffield city centre. Excellent cooked to order breakfast.

A furnishings are a little tired. However the room was absolutely spotless, very comfortable and much bigger than we were expecting. Warm and welcoming on arrival.

Excellent value for 2 nights stay while visiting family in the area. A fascinating historic building, easy to access, free parking and reasonable walking distance to town. Planting and garden maintenance around the hotel was very attractive.

There is a narrow outdoor walkway outside each door. Other guest were using this area to smoke which meant we had to keep our only window shut,or have a room smelling of smoke.

An unusual hotel set on a hill so has many stairs to navigate. Our room was spacious and clean although some of the fittings are a little tired. Breakfast is cooked to order and good quality.

We didn't eat in the bar, it felt kinda dark and a bit grubby and deserted tbh. Just needs a good deep clean/refit and some light in the place. But i am splitting hairs here - it was fine.

Staff were great. The hotel itself is a bit random tbh. Kind of a garrison castle turret with US style outward facing motel style rooms added on. Always makes me smile. Rooms clean though and the reception staff were lovely.

The room was very dated and needs to be modernised. It could have been a bit cleaner. I think it was overpriced for what we were given

The location was great as we were staying for a party at the hotel so it was easy to get changed and go. The room was adequate for what we needed for one night

Breakfast, only serving full English, when arrived was only warm. Egg was overdone. Poor choice of fruit, didn't like having to make own drinks from flask of hot water. Very disappointing.

Good facilities with all you need for a comfortable stay. Great position for access to the beautiful Peak District and all the facilities of the city centre. Buses and trams in easy reach.

Decor seems a little outdated.

Cosy. To get access to the rooms, you don't have to go through a hotel or hotel reception. Good location with supermarket next to it and good bus routes too. Free parking was a huge bonus too and allowed us to keep it parked there after checkout as a gesture of goodwill.

Hotel lights on all night outside our door and window, curtains did not block this light out.

The location was perfect, 2 mins walk to a tram stop, tram approx. 10 mins from the city centre. Staff exceptional, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The choice of bar food was great and the service was excellent.

A quiet word to the Senior Management/ Owners having been in Hospitality myself. Your staff are going above and beyond for the hotel. Too much pressure I think. You have a lovely unique place. Look at your staffing structure and future planning and invest in your business. Hopefully you will reap the rewards with staff already dedicated. Make them feel happy and appreciated. Would love to see the change next time I stay. Yes plan to visit again.

Staff were typically so friendly and made me feel welcomed as I had my birthday up there on my own. My daughter who lives in Sheffield had to go to Manchester after my first day there. So birthday spent on my own...or so I thought. Ellie and Natalie were barstaff STARS, even buying me chocolates and writing a little happy birthday message. The 80's night on my last evening there was just so friendly and I met some new people I will stay in touch with ready for my next trip up before Christmas.

The breakfast facility needs a serious overhaul. We had to get hot water out of a flask to make tea or coffee. The buffet was very limited, the "freshly" cooked breakfast was only ok and it could be cleaner. The woman who took our order was very nice but her helper was quite rude.

The hotel itself was fine. Beautiful old building, room was nice and it was clean. Woman at reception was lovely, we got there at 12.30 and she let us check in early which we really appreciated
