Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNothing. Except that I had to leave this lovely place!
The setting, historic estate, and gardens are magnificent and the hosts friendly and wonderful people. Adrienne and Micky went above and beyond to help us and to make our stay the best ever. Adrienne even helped us find other accommodations when our rental car had a flat tyre late at night hours away. Her kindness meant the world to us. Our flat at the estate was spacious, comfortable, and clean with a well-stocked kitchen and bathroom with many extra special touches. This is by far one of my favorite accommodations and experiences ever. Gardens you only dream of or see in films, surrounded by nature and tall trees and flowers, pheasants everywhere, Highland Cows, sheep, a beautiful, peaceful pond, a river and babbling brooks - the list goes on. I would live here if I could! Paradise. I look forward to bringing the rest of my family as soon as I can!

United KingdomAlthough we enjoyed plenty of walks around the estate, it would have been nice to have had a small secure and enclosed garden at the property itself, so as to have somewhere to let the dog off the leash safely.
The estate and property are beautiful. The bothy cottage felt like a well-looked after wee home, with all the mod-cons and tasteful decoration. The hosts were very helpful and thoughtful, having carefully catered for pets needs and provided some welcome groceries. We arrived a bit late to the estate and struggled to find out way in the dark, but the hosts very graciously met us and showed us the way. During our stay, we enjoyed watching all the wee songbirds that would visit the bird feeders by the lounge windows. A very restful stay.

United KingdomThere was nothing not to like about Wee Bothy and its very quiet location. we would definitely stay again
The grounds of Carnell Country estate were stunning, beautiful gardens with 1000,s of baby pheasants roaming around. Met Adrienne - the owner and her 2 labs, very friendly and responsive, checking in to make sure everything was ok. Lovely welcome pack of bread, milk, butter, eggs, fruit plus all necessities there - condiments, oil, spices. It really wasn't a rental property, was a home - beautifully decorated - loved it

AustraliaInternet would drop out occasionally although it proved a minor inconvenience as it would soon reconnect.
Very comfortable with ample provisions provided. Loved the estate with its variety of animals including hairy coos .The small forest adjacent to the Wee Bothy and the stream flowing through was so serene. The bird feeders in front of the lounge windows led to a steady stream of varying birds with pheasants cleaning up the spillage. The accommodation was everything you would need for a long or short stay.

United StatesWonderful apartment in the main house of the estate with its own entrance and courtyard parking immediately outside. Very spacious, comfortable, and beautifully appointed kitchen/diner, bathroom, living room and bedroom. Extremely welcoming - with tea, coffee, breakfast items including milk, fruit juice, bread and eggs to help guests feel at home right away. The grounds are stunning with formal gardens, woodland and a small lake with swans and heron. Highly recommend this location for anyone visiting Glasgow, Ayr/Ayrshire, Troon or the vicinity. First stay in the Wee Bothy, it is a beautiful, very clean cottage with excellent facilities. Even our wee dogs were well looked after. Adrienne and her team supplied a starter food package for us and a dog bed, bowls, towel and treats for the dogs. Bird food is provided so you can watch a variety of species come to the feeders, from the comfort of the settee. Games, books and dvds are provided. Every detail is considered in order to make your stay most enjoyable, from the luxury toiletries to the torch which is very useful when out in the dark. The Estate is beautiful and walking through it is most enjoyable. Thank you Adrienne and team - a very much needed time out from our busy lives. X
