Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing, we had a great time and it was beyond our expectations.
We had a great 3 night stay, the weather stayed dry and the walks with the dog were wonderful. The house came with a well equipped kitchen, the beds were comfortable and very clean. The wifi connection was great we managed to connect easily. The log burner made the room lovely and cozy, a beautiful feature.

United KingdomIf I was being ultra picky (I.e . purely for the purpose of this survey) - the wooden steps down to the bottom level of the garden, where the hammocks are. My wife and pensioner in-laws took one look at them and thought the foliage on either side was too over grown. This made the Handrail difficult to use, as it was cover in brambles. The steps were a little too steep for them, and after some rain, a little too slippery. I did a 'wee spot' of pruning and couldn't keep off the hammocks - but was always on my own. 😄
The views - which are breathtaking; the Hammocks 😊; the cottage itself, so clean and tidy and comfortable - the welcome gifts, (especially the Porridge, to which I am now addicted); the peace and quiet - it is such a tranquil place; It is the perfect location for a base to travel round the Borders - which is what we did.

United KingdomWe didn't have any issues, we were happy with everything.
It felt very spacious, and had everything we could need. Before we went we received a very helpful email with lots of information about the area. Maggie and Archie were very friendly and helpful. It was a lovely relaxing break that was sadly not long enough.

United KingdomJust don’t, sold as wheelchair friendly, it is not June 2024 I booked this cottage for two reasons: 1. They took dogs 2. Disabled access. This is where it fell down. The “ramp” into the property had a step of about 6 inches, the rear patio had a step of about 4 inches. I travel with someone who is permanently in a wheelchair and it is not a holiday if she can’t get in or out of the property, or I have to put ramps down. Through the property: - gravel from the car to the front door - ramp with a six inch step - ramp was loose and tipped up - the “wet room” had no grab handles or pull down safety bars. - the lounge had a clutter of furniture so a wheelchair user could not get to the kitchen. - a wheelchair user can’t get out to the rear patio, if they could there is a drop of about 2 feet to yet more gravel, no railings - there is a further vertical drop of about 15 feet to another part of the garden. Basically I paid £££££ for something I did not get and it did ruin the holiday, not just for the wheelchair user, but for her carer (me) who had to work trying to resolve this issues for her. Positives: - Good location - Clean Read less Tip: The property was good _if_ you were abled bodied. My travelling companion is not, I chose this because of that. Holiday ruined.
- Good location - Clean

United KingdomOnly complaint is that we only booked 3 nights!
The cottage was stunning & so cosy. The kitchen/bathrooms were immaculate when we got there and were a great size. The grounds were lovely and tidy and we enjoyed walking around the farm with my dog and playing in the garden looking at some beautiful views. The owners were lovely and happy to help with any ‘issue’ we had…. We didn’t really have any complaints!! I was provided extensive information about the area/pubs/day trips etc which made planning our holiday so easy! The welcome basket was a lovely touch as well.
