No toiletries in the bathroom to start with. Had to walk outside from room to get to restaurant/lounge area. Drive is along a very narrow lane to get to the hotel.

Food and service were very good and the room was exactly what we expected with a lovely sea view. The location is right on the coastal path and the access is consequently down some quite narrow Devon lanes but the peace and quiet is wonderful.

Service in the restaurant was a little slow, but it was busy so expected. It would have been nice to find out about the tasting menu before arriving at the property as I have a fish allergy so would have required substitutes and couldn't have it on the evening which is fine. Just a nice to have

the location was stunning. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. Food was outstanding

None other than the scrambled eggs at breakfast weren't cooked to my liking as were very runny and a bit cold, but I hadn't specified when I ordered. If I were staying for multiple nights I would've expected/wanted there to be a hotel gym.

Wonderful location high up on the coast, amazing views. The room was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Excellent amenities provided, including varied choices of teas and coffee in the room, fresh milk, robe, slippers and bath salts. A perfect relaxing stay. October also seemed like a great time to visit as it was quiet, I had the spa area to myself in the evening. It was an extravagance for a night's stay whilst walking the SW Coast path as I couldn't find any other suitable accommodation available nearby, but feel it was worth the price. All staff were very helpful and friendly too.

This was our first stay over but hopefully not the last. The junior suite was stunning and everything we could have hoped for and more. If you're after a real get away from it all place with incredible views and fantastic facilities, this is the place for you.

The only thing that was a little off putting was the very narrow lane leading from the top of the hill to the hotel. On arrival we met a car coming the opposite direction and there are no passing places. Luckily the other car reversed downhill as we were in a hire car and didn’t want to scratch it. Would have thought it would benefit from some form of traffic control.

A lovely hotel with excellent views of the sea . Room a good size. Pool and spa facilities quiet and relaxing.

Only comment we had was that it is a spa hotel, in the indoor pool is very clearly a spa (relaxing) facility. A family with young children chose that pool to play in, with water toys, balls, etc... It totally destroyed the ambiance of the spa and after an expensive massage, we chose to move elsewhere in the hotel to actively avoid them as it was so disruptive. We would have expected that they either be asked to move to the beach or the outdoor pool as consistent with the displayed rules, it was not a play area! However the staff didn't intervene and left them to screech, shout, run around and throw toys and water bomb... All for people having fun but feel if you are going to advertise rules for the spa pool and charge the prices that are in place for treatments, the rules should be enforced to allow for a relaxing environment. However, it didnt ruin our visit and we understand people can be difficult to deal with, other than this small point the stay was exceptional.

Exceptional. The most wonderful stay. Hotel is comfortable, relaxing, warm, welcoming and was just bliss for our short break. Facilities are excellent, staff were amazing, and the food was brilliant!

Location, views, Spa & Cinema room

Inherently access is difficult as roads are narrow and sickly. Cinema time slots were 3 hours, would be good if this could be shorted to 2.5 hours and allow a later slot in the evening. Outdoor pool closed from september as its too cold. Pool is quite short so difficult to do a work out. An addition of a gym would make staying more enjoyable, and allow us to stay longer. In the suite, the room lights were quite choatic with lots of switches which make it abit confusing. Suites would benefit from a portable induction cooker instead of the microwave oven.

Cinema room is fantastic. Swimming pool and sauna is great. Restaurant was very refreshing and outstanding Michelin star quality food with reasonable portions! Breakfast is not a buffet, portioned meals to choose from. Acess to beach 350 meters or so. Young staff were very approachable, in particular Noah.

Privacy wasn’t great/overlooked. Bedroom Wasn’t as clean as I’d like. Hairs on and in the bed.

We return here every 5 months, but recently it h as gone slightly more expensive. Eg breakfast is included but actually there are now extra costs added on if you would like a pastrie to start with or a flat white. The breakfast which is included should just include all products, not added on top. We can also understand why they have split the restaurants, as it seems that Gara Rock wants to move to a higher end kitchen. But unfortunately it makes high paying customers staying there, to sit in a too relaxed lounge chair environment to have dinners. So it makes the normal dinner actually uncomfortable. We used to come here to enjoy the views of the property, not be split away in a lounge chair if we do not want to eat off the taster menu.

Beautiful property, we always return back as it is our favourite place. We have been coming for 4 years 2-3 times per year. It is still beautiful and the outside pizzas are an amazing addition!!
