I was in the single room and it was quite small, but was still perfectly fine for me.

A great stay - immaculately clean, powerful shower, lovely staff, comfortable bed and soft linen. Teas and coffee are available downstairs if you need.

Wonderful rest, I imagine how travellers rested on long journeys before motorways and service stations, personal service, beautiful surroundings, good grub, good ale, quiet, perfect. The staff are all exceptional.

I personally found the bed low and the mattress soft, due to my bad hip and poor mobility.

Easy to find, conveniently next to a playing field where I could exercise my dog. Very clean facilities.

We stayed for one night on our way to a wedding in Newbury. It was a lovely stop over. The staff were friendly, the room comfortable and the food was first rate. They catered for my dairy allergy and I was spoilt for choice. We will definitely book again.

The staircase up to the bedrooms would benefit from having a handrail. Elderly gentlemen like me find it difficult to, for example, carry a suitcase up or down without something to steady them!Food and drink delicious.

Everything about this property exceeded our expectations. From the historic, old thatched roof inn to the friendly service, the fantastic food, and the comfortable rooms. Our only regret about staying here was that we only booked 4 nights and they were full so we could not extend our stay. They have our strongest recommendation.

We loved our two night stay.

The hearty breakfast was delicious, in particular the scrambled egg. Good value for money. The evening menu was interesting and changed over the two nights we stayed. The food was all delicious, but in particular the beer battered cauliflower!

Beautiful period property, rooms were tastefully decorated with modern facilities with their own entrance, away from the main pub area. Easy to access and ample parking. Set in a beautiful village, staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was in addition to the room price but was very nice, was a restful and peaceful setting to wake up to.

Young man at bar was excellent. Rang to check if I would be arriving before kitchen closed and needed food. Had food waiting on arrival and carried it to my room as I carried my bags. So helpful and polite and pleasant with it.

The staff were very helpful when our arrival was delayed. In the communal area there was a dresser with coffee and tea and a fridge with mini milk bottles of milk for each room. There were also cans of alcoholic beverages available to purchase from the fridge. Room was very clean, bed very comfortable, shower good. Breakfast was very tasty and made to order. Lovely pub - would definitely return if in the area.

We had twin beds as a double wasn’t available.

Lovely old pub, full of character; quintessentially English. We were treated to very welcome tea and delicious chips on arrival.

Breakfast not served until 8am which could be a draw back to some. However, it is served promptly, nice choice and very fresh.

Have stayed here a few times and it has become my "go to" place when visiting our Newbury Office. Nice local beers and the food was its usual high standard

Room was adequate and new en suite just needed a few finishing touches, which was acknowledged as work in progress.

A little small but cosy, there is no coffee station in the bedroom, but rather a well equipped station downstairs with very nice quality coffee which makes up for it.

It’s very good fairly for money accommodation. Free parking.
