Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIf absolutely pressed maybe the room was a bit cramped, but also at the same time it has everything you'd need so 🤷
Andrew was an excellent host, very welcoming but not in the slightest bit pushy, seemed happy for me to come and go and 'do my own thing' while I was there, as someone who's a bit antisocial and only up for work I couldn't ask for more. Room, facilities and location are excellent for the price.

United KingdomThere was nothing particularly wrong with the property. If you are wanting a place that provides some social interaction, then maybe look elsewhere. As lovely as the host is, do not expect to socialise with him as he keeps to himself, but I cannot fault him as a host.
The room had everything you need it and and since I just needed a place to sleep, as I was staying whilst I worked in the area, it was ideal.

United KingdomNothing really. When the fridge/freezer was on, it was a wee bit noisy, but I didn't need to use it for very long.
Friendly, welcoming host. Comfortable room. Good mattress. Spotless ensuite. Supply of fresh towels and shower gel. Private toilet. Spotless kitchen and utensils. Heating worked during inclement weather. Secure property. Bus stop in front of the property. Host was kind to accommodate my late arrival. Gave me suggestions on tourist sights on Newcastle

United KingdomThe room was extremely small, which I was expecting, but I couldn't get to use the desk and chair as a fridge was in the way. I think maybe the room could be rearranged to accommodate this. Also darker curtains would have been nice.
The room had everything, shower, fridge freezer. With the room being small, I did have a separate toilet, this was pain as I had to get dressed to go to the toilet. It was for only my use though as the other rooms had their own toilets. Drew, the host was fantastic, I couldn't fault him. I would be more than happy to stay here again if I travel to Newcastle. it was extremely close to Northumbria University which was very handy as I was visiting their for a week and it was walking distance.

United KingdomIf we're honest, it could've been cleaner, carried a bit of a musty smell, but was fine for a couple of days and with the exception of sleeping, we were out most of the time.
The room we booked was a double with full ensuite. There was a mix up on arrival and was given a double with a separate toilet on the landing. After pointing out what we'd booked, the mix up was swiftly dealt with and given our booked room. I heavily suspect this is/was student accommodation, with a bed, ensuite bathroom, a desk and chair. (No television). There is a full shared kitchen which we had full use of, this includes a cooker, fridge freezer etc There is a bus stop right outside the door and free on street parking is available, though I'd recommend you arrive early to grab it. We parked on the nearest side street, opposite the Premier corner shop, which is also handy for essentials.

Great ensuite room - liked the addition of the mini-fridge, and good shared kitchen facilities too! Andrew was a great host - he was really helpful when I needed to change my booking last minute, and responded quickly to any questions I had at the place :)

United KingdomThe bathroom could have done with a clean. There were lots of long hairs on the floor and in the shower.
Andrew was extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful upon arrival and provided lots of recommendations and advice for my time in Newcastle. The place is exactly what you’d expect for such a low price. I knew i wouldn’t be in the room much as i would be busy, so all i needed was a bed and an ensuite which this provided. There was a kitchen with all the facilities required for those wanting more from their stays. There was a bus stop right outside which took you straight into the city for £1.90 which was ideal.

United KingdomWhile the property lacked kerb appeal. The helpfulness of the manager, convenience of access to the city centre and very reasonable cost more than compensated for this. The Baltic is only a 20 minute walk away.

FranceCurtains aren't light blocking ones. Pillows could be a bit better. A shared living room to eat/watch tv would be awesome - but unsure that's even possible. Not much that we didn't like honestly. This is a great place to stay.
About location : residential area, 15/20mn easy walk to downtown. Felt safe. Supermarket nearby. About the place : very clean. Great to have a shared kitchen. Wifi worked well. Bed was comfortable. Shower had hot water. About the host : very friendly and accommodating, such a great person.

United KingdomToliet separate to shower, no way to lock. Mattress a bit lumpy ( cheap divan one) could be upgraded slightly. Curtains a bit too light in colour let sun in v early, would be, better with darker ones or black out blinds.

United StatesThe room smelled absolutely horrible. I believe the bedding had been spoiled from the laundry. We had to sleep with the window, open. The towels smelled fresh, so we covered the pillows with the towels and put extra clothes on so we could sleep without a the smelly blanket. The bed was very uncomfortable and noisy. It is an old spring mattress with no mattress topper.
Location was fine and host was friendly.
