To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United KingdomIt has to be understood that we are in our eighties, and these days totally unused to needing hotels of any sort. That said, we were very surprised to find that in our room there were just four items -- bed, small table, four coat hangers, TV. Particularly the absence of a chair seems to us bizarre. Probably we should have read your descriptions more carefully, but to have no sustenance on offer, not even a British cuppa, was disappointing. Inconsistently the toilet, having flushed properly, failed to stop refilling the cistern. We found that a little tinkering solved the problem, but at least one neighbouring room had water flowing, audibly, throughout the second of our two nights; we reported this before leaving.
The hotel was well situated. Our welcome was very friendly and efficient (Sophie). The hotel was clean, and we were impressed by the spotlessness of our room, particularly the en-suite. Taken in the round, our neighbouring guests were reasonably quiet. Traffic noise was very bearable.

United KingdomThe rooms are a bit austere and almost cold feeling (although the heating was fine). I smashed a glass bottle when I dropped it because the bedroom floors are so hard! The grand building has inevitably lost a bit of its character. Although it's in a great location, the price I payed on a busy night in Newcastle couldn't be value for money.
The location is amazing, and it's lovely to see some of the character of the old building in the staircase. The room and common spaces were very clean and had what I needed. Staff were great.
