Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe breakfast is a bit old school. It’s a ‘fry up’ buffet and the ‘continental’ element was limited and the coffee is from a coffee machine you make yourself so always pretty poor quality.
I know the clue is in the name but the view directly onto the sea is heavenly, especially because of the big balcony and French windows. The location is perfect: the sea, pier, Devonshire Park Theatre just behind. My single room with balcony, sea view and breakfast on a Friday in May was £112, which felt like good value. Staff were lovely. You can buy a parking voucher for £2.20 and park on the street just by the hotel.

United KingdomNothing to fault. Perhaps a menu outside restaurant would be nice. No sign of a Fixed Price Menu which may have tempted us in.
Excellent view of Eastbourne Pier from room. Good size bathroom. Excellent standard of fitments. Room was on the small side but adequate for our requirements. Staff were very professional. Breakfast was a particularly pleasant experience.

United KingdomRestaurant. Booked an early table as we were going to a concert in the bandstand. T here were only 8 people in the restaurant, but it still took 45 minutes to serve our meal. When mine came, the potatoes and vegetables were burnt. Didn't have enough time to have dessert. The restaurant manager, however, dealt with the issue quickly and efficiently.
Upgraded to a king size, balcony room with a seaview. Spotless, well equipped, helpful staff.

United KingdomThe whirring of the fans within the bathroom was a little distracting and the curtains did not block all of the daylight as dawn arrived. The lighting was controlled via a series of linked switches, none of which seemed to work in a way one would expect. The seat to the desk was too low and there are no USB sockets in the room. Finally the plug socket was on the side of the bed where there was no table, forcing me to place my Apple Watch away from the bed, which is an issue as that is also used as a bedside clock when I travel.
The room was extremely clean and well laid out. The bathroom was similarly well designed and was easy to use without fear of slipping or hitting something. The hot water was almost immediate and the shower was easy to use. I also liked the towel drying line that ran across the bath tub. The bed was comfortable and at just the right elevation.

United KingdomIt is a lottery regarding whether you get a decent quality matress. The furnishings carpets curtains and balconies need updating and bringing up to the same standard as the very impressive architecture of the hotel.
All members of staff were very polite always professional and very helpful. The hotel is an excellent see front location close to restaurants pubs and a short walk to Eastbourne pier. The breakfast was to a good quality standard.

We were given a warm welcome on arrival. Our room was spacious, immaculate and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was included and was superb in very way! We decided to stay an extra night as it was so good. We had lunch in the bar area which has windows and a balcony overlooking the seafront. Delicious food in such a lovely modern setting.

United KingdomNo complimentary water in room. Had to go and buy a large bottle of water from a local shop for my husband to take his pills, as didn't want to drink water from tap in bathroom or use to make tea. Some areas of the hotel were a little cold, particularly the bar area where we had an evening meal.
Loved the view of the sea. Room was a good size, shower water lovely and hot. Towels were of good quality. Breakfast was excellent.
