Just a 1 night stopover travelling home from holiday, more than adequate.

There is no facility to help get out of the tub after a shower (grab handle for example) so it's tricky.

The booking system worked, the hotel is archeological lovely in a beautiful location and the staff are friendly. What's not to like?

Not a big deal, but there are opportunities to reduce the use of plastic. A greater choice of fruit at breakfast would be welcome. Otherwise, overall provides a great service.

Top marks for the friendly and very helpful staff. We really like and appreciated having a room with plenty of space and a good view. Plus it had a comfortable bed. The hotel is located in beautiful countryside and not too far from the small Borders towns with their small independent shops and places of interest.

Waited an hour to get served having placing dinner order. The restaurant was busy but as the wait was exceptional we should have been advised and offered some nibbles would have been a nice gesture. Next evening when restaurant was quiet we were served in 15 minutes.

    Comfortable hotel wonderful setting.

The heater in our room (though not needed while we were there) was coming away from the wall. We told the staff at the front desk and although they said they would sort it, it wasn't sorted in the time we were there. From the website, one would assume that there was a choice of restaurants - one appeared to be more fine dining than the other, but while we were there the only option was the standard fayre. The hospitality tray in the room was on the disappointing side with 2 very different sized mugs and a very limited range of tea and coffee.

Gorgeous setting with the most wonderful view of the River Tweed from our room. Beautiful walks locally. Having Dryburgh Abbey literally on the doorstep was an added bonus. The front desk staff were very friendly and welcoming - the staff in the restaurant were helpful and professional. Breakfast was tasty and in a beautiful room with stunning views. A choice of lovely Scottish products on the hot menu as well as a good selection of cold food on the buffet. The room was clean and tidy, with basic decor. The bathroom was clean and functional with a great shower!! Our meal on the final evening was very tasty even though the restaurant was not quite what we were led to believe.

Evening meal was fine in bistro area, but service a bit slow and not as special (food quality and atmosphere) as in the usual main dining room (possibly due to a special dinner/function in main dining room)..

Very nice breakfast. Beautiful building and location. Had same room as last time but was pleased it had been redecorated in the mean time.

The quality of service was average at best and the staff would benefit from additional training in customer service and awareness. The hotel was very busy and I thought they were understaffed but appreciate how difficult it is to recruit catering staff in remote locations. There appeared to be a lack of management or at least supervisory presence at breakfast and dinner.

Facilities were great with an excellent location. I had a very relaxing and comfortable stay. The bedroom was large, clean and had a lovely view of the river. The food was excellent and while the choice was slightly limited I was surprised at the outstanding quality and presentation. The bar had a good selection of malt whisky. A very enjoyable and relaxing stay.

Almost no help with suitcases. Terrible noise coming from the walls in the room around midnight and before 7 in the morning. Complained in reception but nothing was done by maintenance to sort it out even after we pointed out where it came from. Door lock did not work. Jotel looked in general a bit shabby and unloved.

The water pressure for the shower was weak I would say it needs a booster. The evening meal although pleasant didn't knock our socks off, but the breakfast was superb.

The location was brilliant, the hotel was old but well maintained and a very pretty building.

our rooms were next door to us as requested, both had a lovely view of the garden and across to the abbey. They were large rooms and had a seating area in the window. It was very quiet and peaceful with beautiful grounds to walk in and lovely views of the river and abbey. We had breakfast on our first morning in the upstairs restaurant which was excellent and hot food cooked to order, we ate in the bistro downstairs on both nights of our stay which was also very good. All staff were very pleasant and polite, the receptionist provided us with a leaflet of walks to do in the area from the hotel.
