Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomHaving to leave!
From the moment you walk through the door Lynda the host makes you feel like you've come home. After our long drive what more could you want than the most delicious afternoon tea served in a wonderful comfy lounge. Lynda's homemade cakes are lovely, and even more cake and Eric's homemade tablet was kindly put in our room. Dower House is a beautiful property and home. Our room was beautifully decorated and furnished, the soft furnishings are made by Lynda, all from Harris Tweed. The bathroom was very modern with a large shower. Lynda and Eric are very serious about the covid regulations within the hospitality industry. So everything was super clean and made us feel very safe. The breakfast was served in a lovely dining room and was super tasty, made with great produce and a lot of it homemade such as the bread and jam. Newtonmore is a lovely place with great places to eat, we had a good meal at the Glen Hotel. Lynda and Eric's hospitality goes above and beyond anything we have experienced on our travels over the last two weeks and we would throughly recommend Dower House to all travellers. Thank you so much!

United KingdomLynda and Eric were fantastic hosts who couldn't be more helpful and friendly. The accommodation was spotless and the food was indulgent and sumptuous; the homemade cakes in the room were a fantastic touch. Would thoroughly recommend this accommodation to all. Will be back here again.

The hospitality of Lynda and Eric. They are a wonderful couple and they are amazing. Not only they are great cooks, they also shared with us the history, the events of the village. The room was sparkly clean, the bed was comfortable. Dower house is also taking additional measures to ensure the safety of their guests during covid. It is the most responsible place we stayed at. The dishes, the bakes of Lynda are absolutely beautiful and delicious treats. We booked our dinner at their place instead of going to a restaurant outside - we were glad that we did it. They provide a full menu to choose from. We strong recommend the "proper pie" with steak. Thank you for the great stay, Lynda and Eric!

I expected a nice bedroom but was delighted when Lynda showed us into a sizeable, very well equipped apartment complete with a huge two-metre wide bed. Self-contained but attached to the big house, we felt thoroughly at home. The dynamic Lynda was full of ideas of things to do and places to go while husband Eric created excellent breakfast Scottish/American dishes. The Dower House is close to lots of good restaurants and it is easy to get to the local sights in Kingussie,Aviemore and beyond. Lynda's Harris Tweed creations were much in evidence.

United KingdomDuvet was too thick for summer - but the weather is unusually warm this month; I'm sure it's fine 350 days of the year. The rules about doors and 'no shoes' feel a bit draconian - and the inner door should surely be on a Yale lock for fire safety.
Easy to find, beautifully furnished and decorated, with fittings of a high standard. Excellent shower and wi-fi. The hosts go to a great deal of trouble to give the guests a special experience, especially with breakfast and the complimentary tea & cake. Newtonmore is a pleasant village with a convenient Co-op store and good pub (the Glen Hotel).

United KingdomNothing - it was all amazing
As I rumble through my 40s I decided to see a bit more sites. My wife had always had a big thing about Monarch of the Glen so we stumbled upon The Dower House and what a find. Set in the most beautiful countryside and the house is simply stunning. Beautiful rooms, amazing food in stunning scenery.
