Only a very minor detail, but the lighting in the room was rather dim. We women need light to apply make-up.

The owner is one of the nicest people you could hope to meet and goes out of his way to help. Lovely comfortable bed, had a good sleep.

This lovely, quiet hotel is in a calm area of Wallsend, UK. My room was nice, spacious, and perfectly clean. There was a bathroom in the room, and I slept like an angel—the bed was super comfy. Breakfast starts at 7 with a large selection on the buffet. One can also order hot food, "English breakfast," in the restaurant—it's made on order, super fresh, and delicious. The owner is very friendly and will do whatever is possible to make your stay just perfect. There's a bus at a 2-minute walk - transportation is no problem. I can highly recommend this hotel.

Only a minor irritation. Our room was situated close to the breakfast/reception room which had a cuckoo clock and a grandfather/grandmother clock. The cuckoo clock told us the time every half hour. The larger clock was running 2 minutes slow and chimed on the hour with the relevant amount of chimes for that hour. During the day this wasn't an issue but overnight we were constantly woken from our slumber. This was a real frustration on the first night, a source of amusement on the second night and we were pretty much able to ignore the noise on the third.

The owner, who had a happy, friendly demeanor was always available if you needed anything and was a source of information regarding recommended places to eat out or places to visit. The choice at breakfast was really good. The room was spacious and comfortable. Really good quiet location.

Soap dish in shower. Toilet seat adjustment needed. Toilet roll holder needed. Grab rails to assist unsteady clients would be a plus.

I was greeted on arrival by Stan, who showed me around the lounge and dining room areas and showing me the patio and garden. I had a double en suite room which was very comfortable and spotlessly clean, with all you could wish for available for the shower. The hotel has some very interesting articles dotted around the house and garden, well worth a look. Breakfast was excellent with a very good selection of continental breakfast plus a full English too! I will make a bee-line for this hotel the next time I'm in the area. Its a hidden gem on the edge of the city centre.

Unfortunately the slats under the bed kept falling out but apart from that the room was lovely.

Stan was very friendly and helpful and explained how to use the Metro to get to where we were going and gave us a lift to the station. Good choice at breakfast and a very friendly atmosphere.

The hotel is in a residential area of Wallsend, 15 mins walk from the shops and restaurant in this largely working class suburb. The Anson pub does good food. The Dorset Arms was formerly a pub and restaurant as well, but as of 2024, only offers breakfast and rooms due to a downturn in patronage of the former. You can still bring in your own food - the takeaways are actually closer than 15 mins walk.

Great host, with a lot to say about local affairs, venues, and history. Excellent large rooms, renovated and comfy. Large outside space. Anything you like for the breakfast, which is included in the decent price. It's a decent place to stay, but don't expect nightlife on the doorstep.
