Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWater leak problem in bathroom but it was attended to very quickly so that was impressive. I wish I'd booked direct with the hotel as I later found out that there are deals to be had and I could have requested a specific room.
Breakfast, Indoor pool, Outdoor pool with sun terrace, range of snacks & drinks available, lots of different bars, entertainment available, on site shop with essentials and gifts, friendly and helpful staff, late check-in, check-out not too early.

United KingdomThe hotel is understandingly dated and the stairs to the 3rd floor a bit of a hassle if you have mobility issues (however, the lift is available, though you just need to be patient to get into one if it is busy).
We had a wonderful time in Torquay and all of the facilities were amazing, especially the parking, pools and the game rooms for kids. Amazing hotel complex.

United KingdomSo my review here will sound horrific , but the hotel itself really isn’t as a whole I just want to explain my disappointments when I walked in and looked around, my very first day I was super upset, however I really enjoyed my first night and my first nights stay, so, the pictures on the website , on booking . Com, on wowcher, of the hotel itself are nothing like the pictures online, my first room was so small I wouldn’t have been able to even open my case in the space, we were checked in , walked to our room, down a very narrow flight of stairs almost like an alley, we needed to rest as we’d had an extremely long travel, my other half had fallen asleep on the bed so nothing bothered him, however I lay there for the full hour listening to the family above us moving around the floor boards / ceiling was that loud I couldn’t even rest, the sink to brush my teeth was inside the room, which I just couldn’t understand at all, I then complained the reception and I was offered alternative accommodation, we did opt for a top floor room at this point because I couldn’t bare the thought of going through that again. The second room was better but the shower door wouldn’t stay open when I was getting in or out the shower, kept wacking into me, my partner described the building / rooms like Rhyl in the 80s , so he was over the moon, I however was not at this point I just couldn’t get my head round the difference in the pictures to the rooms, the carpets need replacing throughout the whole building and it needs a lick of paint, there is plenty of car parking areas around the hotel but no signage as how to get to them, and the biggest thing for me , and I mean I just felt lied to, was the fact the hotel itself is part of a five hotel complex , five!
The spa was incredible, the swimming pool, wet room, sauna and steam room unreal! Just like the pictures, the entertainment team put on a fab show every single night ! The arcade room was amazing really good touch! My bed was super comfortable! The staff did everything they could to help, I asked to change rooms as soon as we got there as I wasn’t happy with the first room, and I was offered a further two choices and the room we ended up 408 was just spot on for location view of the sea.

United KingdomThe outside of the derwent looks quite run down and it took us a while to navigate our way through the corridors.
The hotel has a vast amount for the kids to enjoy, kids clubs, parks, pools and spa. The pool and bistro had a holiday feel to it and with the sun out it felt like we could have been abroad. Staff were helpful, room was clean and comfortable enough. Location was good, a lovely pan Asian restaurant nearby, a convenience store and just a 10-15 min stroll to Torquay where they have a funfair and lots of shops, restaurants and the beach.

United KingdomThe hotel room was a bit dated and in need of some TLC (cracked walls, ripped wallpaper) and bathroom needed to be updated. The understandably old plumbing (Victorian building) was very noisy. The beds were quite lumpy and made a restful night sleep difficult. The lack of double glazing meant that all street sounds could be heard from our 1st floor/corner room. While the hotel obviously can’t control noise from public spaces such as traffic, pubs/bars goers in the street or the bin collection at 7:15am - double glazing/sound proofing would have helped.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had several requests to include a maintenance request and they corrected the issue and provided the extras (iron and ironing board) upon request. All staff from dining room, to the spa were friendly and helpful.

United KingdomThe hotel is a bit dated , the floor is uneven and could do with redecorating and a bit of a revamp. The mattress was very uncomfortable and could feel the springs!
Breakfast and location were fab , the staff were very helpful and polite. I wanted an extra duvet and the lady went above and beyond and brought me 2 mattress protectors for my bed as the mattress was terrible . The pool was fab and the arcade etc too

United KingdomIt was old and run down, stairway carpets and walls were dirty, wall paper coming off the walls in bedroom. Couldn’t use the facilities of pool/jacuzzi etc as it was all just full of kids jumping in, i paid more than a standard hotel specifically to use these , should have just booked a travel lodge Staff weren’t really friendly, when we checked out I went to the desk, the receptionist didn’t even say good morning or asked how our stay was, she just pointed a box and said to put the room key in it

United KingdomThe bed was incredibly uncomfortable and the mattress needs to be replaced with a new one. I think this was also the case last year. One lift was broken and the stairway carpets really need to be replaced or deep cleaned. A late night shop or vending machines would be handy?
The location is brilliant and the facilities are great (especially the pools and the games area). Staff are really friendly and helpful and it feels very safe and welcoming. I come here once a year with my young daughter, and we always enjoy staying here. The breakfast options and restaurant are great and well run.
