Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI didn’t mind climbing the stairs but staying on the top floor requires exertion. Room fine for one person but no room for a desk separate from the kettle/water bottle etc. so if you’re more than one person, ask about an upgrade. These are not things that bothered me. I only wish there were ice machines on at least some of the floors.
Friendly, helpful reception staff. Well prepared delicious hot breakfast choices. Continental choices abundant, tasty and kept very neat. Comfortable bed, quiet, nice selection of books in room. Lovely crystal glasses in rooms. Very convenient to buses and a short bus ride to train or 20 min walk.

United KingdomParking was an issue and had to park in the ncp by the brewery quarter as the car park near hotel was only for four hours and there were no spaces left at the hotel. If I had had a large case with me it’s a long walk from there to the hotel. Thankfully it was only an overnight trip so I had only a small bag with me.

United KingdomOur room was incredibly small, when getting out of the right hand side of the bed there was approximately 12 inches between you and the wall and very heavy curtains, this made making your way to the bathroom dangerous in the night, unless you put on the light, which would wake your partner up.
The Reception staff were really good, pleasant and professional. The hotel was clean and well looked after. Location wise it was excellent.

South AfricaThe room is quite small, though I suppose it is understandable as it is an Edwardian building.

United KingdomOld building with very little sound-proofing between floors so noisy when people staying overhead. Lighting inadequate - reading lights too dim, overhead lights too harsh and nothing over tea making/desk area. No towel rails in bathroom although towels were changed daily.
Although breakfast not included there was a very flexible breakfast menu available at reasonable prices. Room at the back so quiet.

United KingdomBreakfast was varied from very good (the coffee, the pastries and cereals) to slightly disappointing (the cooked breakfast).
The room was well decorated, if a little tired in places. The bed was very comfortable and roomy. The inclusive breakfast choice was very comprehensive and the quality was reasonable. The higher cost of a hotel that's so central is to be expected. Parking opposite the hotel was easy.

United KingdomAir con turned off after 5 minutes, very hot. Layout of the room only allowed one person to actually see the tv as it was behind a wall in the corner of the room.

United KingdomI was leaving early so didn't stop for breakfast.
The staff here are fabulous and very friendly and helpful. There is always someone on hand to help. The room was comfortable and perfect for what I needed. The hand soap and hand cream provided smelt fabulous. There is a lovely diner in the basement but only stopped for a coffee and to do some work. Great selection of drinks and snacks behind the bar and perfect location to access the train station.

United KingdomGreat quality continental breakfast included with our booking - freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh baked croissants/pastries, delicious pots of overnight oats and homemade granola, fresh fruit, fancy tea bags and decent coffee. Beds were very comfortable with large feather pillows. Wifi in the room was super quick. We had access to Netflix/iplayer/prime etc on the wide screen telly. A view from room 46 of a church spire and hills beyond Cheltenham. Stylish rooms and feel to the place, but if you don’t like a dark decor, this is probably not the hotel for you. Montpellier was on our doorstep with all its wonderful cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques.

United KingdomIf you are staying on the 2nd floor and have a few bags, there isn’t a lift and no one to help you with your bags.
It’s nicely done, rooms have most things you need and are comfortable. Comfy beds, great showers, nice bed linen. Great position in centre of town. We have stayed here a few times and is our go to when visiting family in Cheltenham.

United KingdomOur room was a standard double and, although it was a very comfortable bed, it was very tight to move around it, the room was extremely small. It did show that on the website picture, but we felt it wasn't good value for money as the rate was quite expensive. No tea/coffee in the room, I think only certain types of rooms have this facility, but as I said you can help yourselves downstairs in the breakfast area (free). Also no bar at the hotel.
This hotel is in a great location for exploring Cheltenham, it's really nice and the staff were helpful. Nice that you can help yourself 24/7 to lovely coffee machine coffees / teas in the breakfast room downstairs.
