Prime location for all of the local amenities. The staff were very polite and courteous. Although this hotel is an old building the cleanliness of it is to a high standard compared to some of the others in the town centre. Reasonably priced as well.

The hotel room I stayed in was very dated and basic, but having said that it was comfortable and clean and met my needs as a base for my 2 day visit.

The location was perfect - right in the middle of Carlisle city centre, Ideal as a base for visiting the touristy places such as the Castle, museums (although diappointingly the Tulle Museum was closed for refurbishment) and the Cathedral.

We were there the same weekend as a wedding and many noisy guests going to their rooms as late as 02.30 in the morning which kept us awake so might be wise to check if there is a wedding when you book.

Breakfast was good. I let a book behind in my room and the staff retrieved it and sent it back to me.

The Reception desk is tucked away in a corner and could do with an image update: the staff were lovely.

Central location with experienced staff. Room & food was great. Private Car Park was a big plus 👍

There's a few maintenance details that are missed especially in the bathroom but the place was really clean so i'm really pleased.

Having to go home

Loved the grand entrance and all the marbled lines. The hotel harks back to a time where hotels were very grand . The stained glass windows are beautiful.

The decor felt a little dated and rough around the edges, would benefit from a bit of work as it could be really special. Breakfast wasn’t included in the room price so chose not to eat there. Restaurant staff were really lovely, but person on reception when we arrived was unwelcoming and not very friendly which was disappointing. The lock on the door was incredibly stiff and it was a battle to lock and unlock the door.

Good location, right in the middle of Carlisle, very close to restaurants and shops. We ate in the restaurant on one of the evenings and the food was good and the staff were friendly. It’s a beautiful old hotel but needs a bit of love and attention. Room was comfortable, with a nice big double bed.

Would have loved a tiny bit more selection at breakfast , a whole piece of fresh fruit , pancakes 🥞, crusty bread .

Lovely 2 night stay during half term , lovely staff , big room , pool to ourselves on all 3 occasions , pet friendly , child friendly . Will be back . Full of character

Bathroom was a little tired

The building was in good condition. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The communal areas (bar and breakfast room) were lovely. The bar prices were reasonable. Breakfast was good.

Check in took a while but to be fair the receptionist was being really helpful to an American visitor to our country so I am not complaining. I would want that service if I was abroad but I needed to get on and work Before of play . Says more about me than her . :) the lady that let me into the car park was lovely too :) xx

Breakfast service was very slow with coffee & toast. Was almost finished my breakfast before the coffee turned up. Had to ask 3 times.

Location perfect. Secure parking for our bikes. Spotless & grand.
