Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing bad at all.
Perfect, quiet location for visiting Glencoe, beautiful woodlands and mountains, as well as travelling further afield. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. Perfect size for our family. The enclosed garden was great for our dog. Clare, the host, was also very helpful in recommending local horse riding centres.

Beautiful quiet cottage at the end of a row. Tastefully furnished and decorated, very clean, well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds with fluffy duvets and nice bed linens. Good shower. Spectacular views of the hills from both bedrooms. Parking on the property. Great location for travel to Fort Williams and Oban. Host had helpful guide to the cottage itself and there were lots of books about Glencoe and walks to do in surrounding area.

United KingdomA welcome pack would have been a nice touch for the price. Things like a pint of milk, biscuits etc for when you arrive. Tea and coffee were provided, but we had to go to the co-op in the next village to get milk as the local nisa and petrol station didn't have any. I would have liked some sort of blind or curtain on the sliding door going out from the hallway to the back garden, as going from the shower to the bedroom to change in full view of a school playground isn't great. It's not complaints, just a bit of feedback, and these minor things would not put me off staying again.
The cottage is very tastefully decorated with nice little touches and has a high-quality finish throughout. You can tell the owners have put a lot of effort into the property to make it cosy and comfortable. They should be very proud of what they have achieved. The furniture throughout is very nice too, all solid wood. The owner was very attentive and asked if everything was OK when we arrived. We felt that if there was an issue, we would have had assistance straight away. The kitchen is very well equipped and has everything you could possibly need, including a dishwasher. The living area is comfortable, has a smart TV, and the wood burner really warms the area nicely. There was a selection of books in the cabinet in the hallway about Scotland, and the local area which anyone staying would find interesting. The bathroom is very clean and tastefully decorated with nice hand soap and lotions provided. The main bedroom had plenty of space with a large built-in wardrobe, and I found the bed very comfortable. Outside, the garden was secure for our dog, and the view from the back garden was fantastic. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at cosy cottage. Glencoe is a beautiful area, and we will definitely be coming back in the future. We will look to make a booking at cosy cottage again when we do.

United KingdomDef not a dislike but just on a personal level couldn’t park right outside which with a disabled child was awkward. The shower was a little temperamental and difficult to get right.
The cottage was exceptional especially all the little touches that make such a difference it was warm cosy and spotlessly clean the location was amazing beds comfortable with no expense spared throughout. WiFi was better than at home !!

United KingdomIf I had to write a negative the only thing would be that the tv is very small and far away from the sofa. We had our dogs with us so evenings after hiking most of the day were spent on the sofa and we watched some movies as we brought our own fire tv with us. Was just a little harder to watch. However it wasn’t that big of a deal and it wouldn’t stop me going back as we loved it so much.
Absolutely beautiful place. Had everything possibly needed and more. Warm, cosy, beautifully decorated. The best place we’ve stayed by far and we will 100% book again. Such an amazing area for adventures and a bonus that with the gate closed the front/side and back garden was secure for our dogs.

United StatesWish we could have stayed for a week.
The cottage is really an apartment at the end of an apartment row but because you are on the far end you have total privacy. There are large windows on the front and back of the property so that you have an outstanding view wherever you are in the apt. Both front a back yards are private fenced. The decor is very cute and the furniture is comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need.
