Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBathroom had a smell of damp which can happen in an older property, there is an electric heater on the wall which soon helped clear the smell.
Lovely cottage in a small village that suited us perfectly as a couple and one child. The decor was very homely and loved the kitchen which had everything we needed to make a lovely breakfast each morning. The village itself has the Bala Lake railway train station which was a 5 min walk away and The Eagles pub which we ate at twice, great service and food and just a few mins walk from the property. Easy to get to Barmouth beach which is a short drive and plenty of places to explore in the car, stunning scenery. Little children's park in the village as well which was handy. Bala itself has lots of shops, pubs and restaurants and was around a 6 minute drive from the cottage with lovely views of the lake along the way. The view of the churchyard didn't bother us at all, my daughter loved looking out her bedroom window at the cows each morning. Thank you for a lovely stay!

United KingdomLack of WiFi can be problematic considering how bad is cellular coverage in Snowdonia. In the house we had 0/1 bar in 3 network and 1/2 bars in Vodafone. Do not forget to download offline maps and plan your trips earlier, at your place.
Peaceful and quiet village. Very quiet neighbours :) Cosy house with a comfy bed and lovely fireplace.

United KingdomAll back garden it is old graveyard. It wasn't problem for us at all, but some people may feel uncomfortable. It would be better to tell customers before they arrive about it. The living room smells a bit musty.
Very nice cottage. The nice fireplace where you can light a fire, everything is prepared. There are many table games you can play. Well-equipped kitchen.

United KingdomI could have done with a mirror with a plug near by as I struggled to dry my hair and then use my straighteners without seeing what I was doing, this is only a minor problem though. It was unseasonably cold for June on a couple of nights and although the electric heater worked well in the bedroom, it didn't really heat the living room much even with the log burner going. I would think it would be cold in winter, on the plus side in the summer heat the thick walls of the cottage would keep very cool I would have thought.
Nice and quite away from the main town, but nearer enough to Lake Bala for my 5km swim. Lovely walks and local wildlife. Lovely village pub with a brilliant views. We sat outside to eat. The Cottage was lovely and easy to find. The owners seem to have thought of most things you would need. The Bed was very comfortable and we had no problem sleeping.

United KingdomNo internet! This cased a problem for us as we had to use Bluetooth to other devices, from our phones, and the phone signal was poor. Parking limited to road outside cottage. There were building works in neighbouring properties at the time we stayed so extra cars and vans parked in vicinity. Garden opposite was unusable, because the grass was not cut, and there was no seating area. Cottage heating limited so could be cold especially in the evenings. Hot water supply was slow and inadequate for sinks, but fine in the shower. Out of date leaflets and local information.
Nicely furnished, and kitchen well equipped for self catering. Space well used although overall accommodation compact. Quiet neighbourhood, convenient for access to countryside, Bala Lake, and other interesting areas nearby for walks and coastline. Very close to Bala Lake railway. Local pub, The Eagle, very good and accomodating, but limited opening hours. Cheap petrol at local station.

Was a really nice a quiet place where the house is. Personal I liked the fact that at the back if the house is a grave yard. It could put a few people off.

United KingdomEverything was amazing. The only thig that let us down was the fire lighter so we didn't get to experience the log burner (although the cottage was still cosy, radiators are just not the same as a real burner).
This property lived up to it's description, it is such a cute cottage and was perfect for our Halloween trip to the area. We really enjoyed our stay.

United KingdomCemetery directly behind freaked our son out, he wouldn't go upstairs on his own so not sure if he felt the presence of some of the locals ..... this was why we marked location down. Struggled with TV not sure if the remote was working. Unfortunately smoke alarms were going mental one morning due to use of the grill minor things
Lovely cottage,.perfect for the 3 of us, everything was to hand. We played with the cards and games quite a bit great family time doing. Well presented space utilised well. Owner really helpful when spoke with. Really is a lovely little place

Welcome items (Prosecco, milk and welsh cakes). Good location near lovely pub (Yr Eagles), small shop, gorgeous scenery, steam train stop and bus stop - though car recommended. Parking directly outside or close by. Hosts responsive and helpful. Cute cottage is small but has all the things you would need for good base near surrounding attractions. Very clean, well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, lovely linen and blankets + enough storage for a short stay. They also provide, nice loo rolls, hand soap, washing up liquid, towels, tea towels and more. There is a hairdryer

United KingdomOur only issue was back bedroom double bed and mattress was great, but personally we do not like beds set next to a wall felt very enclosed and inconvenient for bathroom visits, we didn't sleep well. I understand this is due to the room size. So we tried the front bedroom, and this was a single pullout bed into a large double. The mattress was awful. Not comfortable at all. Overall, It was disappointing sleep after a very active walking trip, but would definitely return if the bed was upgraded in the front room.
Lovely cottage great communication with owner. Overall, it was a great weekend. Perfect size property for the 2 of us. Ground floor was very high standard lounge and kitchen. It was well furnished and equiped very welcoming . This property is in a lovely quiet location. This was a walking break therefore gave us lots of beautiful opportunities for scenic walks.
