Wonderful hotel, staff are superb, helpful, professional and so friendly

Breakfast could have been better, we had 4 meals, 1 full English but the food was dry and overcooked. 3 of us had eggs Benedict and all the poached eggs were fully cooked and not runny.

Lovely hotel the night porter in particular made us feel really welcome and gave us a small tour of key areas giving an insight into the hotel’s history which was fascinating.

The rooms are in need of a revamp as the bathroom was tired and the windows where dirty so the view was hampered by the dirty windows

The staff and breakfast. The staff made you feel so welcome and location was beautiful We had just got married so they surprised us with Prosecco in the room.

Once we moved room nothing we did not like

We had an issue with the drains in our room but the Manager was excellent and moved us to a suite and that was excellent

There didn't seem enough staff in the restaurant or the bar. We were stood waiting over 5 mins to be welcomed at the evening meal, and it was slow to get our order and pre dinner drinks. Evening menu was limited with no specials. Breakfast and the service team were great. The bar server was quite grumpy. Probably because he was serving alone, with a lot of thirsty people waiting for their drinks!

The hotel is well appointed and the rooms very comfortable. The decor is nice, though a little tired in places. Breakfast was really good and the evening meal in the restaurant was fab.

The hotel has a nostalgic air and has spectacular views of the lake. Conveniently located, near the lake-side and also nearby village with many restaurants/cafes/convenience stores.

The thing that let the Hotel down was the food! It’s a 4 star Hotel but the standard of the food didn’t come up to scratch. The menu is an all day one, so if you eat at lunch it’s the same menu for Dinner, first night my Husband had fish and chips not much to go wrong with that but the chips were hard in the centres of which he couldn’t eat! I had sea bass supposedly on new potatoes, shrimps and peas I also had a side of cauliflower cheese. One new potato cut in half that was it! No peas and the cauliflower was more or less raw with a watery cheese sauce on it , couldn’t eat it! We ate out for dinner the rest of the time we were there. Breakfast wasn’t much better I had beans and poached egg, one egg was fine but the other was still “snotty” not been cooked enough. There was also water on the plate!My Husband ordered kippers, I have never seen the kippers the size of goldfish! They were so small and dry, he had to put butter on them to soften them up! On two mornings the melon had run out also bowls to put it in! People were putting cereal on side plates as there were no bowls. It would have been nice to see a tablecloth on the table in the evenings not just the same bare wood as at breakfast! Please don’t think it is us being picky as two other couples mentioned the hard cauliflower cheese also the state of the chips. Please address the food issue and you will have a truly wonderful Hotel which makes it great foryour guests. I’m sure you would have had other complaints about the food too.

The Hotel is in a fabulous location with stunning views of Lake Windermere, lovely and clean and the staff were great.The bedroom was very spacious too

Room was very small. Poor access to room. Lots of stairs. No room fridge. Bed mattress was saggy and old. Parking in the hotel was an additional, unnecessary expense. Should have been included in the room rate.

The staff let it down and would be the reason we would not stay again. Some were good but majority let them down badly.

Shower tray in our room had been repaired with sticky tape and been there that long it was filthy dirty and mouldy, I wouldn't use it.

Arrived in time for check-in but room wasn’t ready so had to wait another 20-30 minutes. Plug in shower was broken and loose doorhandle needs some attention 😅 Didn’t expect these issues based on what we paid for the room.

Location - the views across Windermere are fantastic, both from our room and the restaurant. Food and service in restaurant was excellent, easily accommodated dietary requirements.

The toilets adjacent to the bar were not clean. They had not been cleaned well for some time. Areas of the hotel require a deep clean of carpets and walls.

The evening meal in the restaurant was outstanding. Beautifully presented and beautifully cooked.

Not enough staff in restaurant. It took 2 hours to serve our 2 courses at dinner. Parts of the hotel need redecorating, looking rather tired.

The service at dinner and breakfast and also at the bar was not upto the mark. The bar tender was too slow and inexperienced. You seemed to have been understaffed. There were too few staff serving during the dinner time- also at the breakfast time, which resulted in a long wait. The staff were trying their best but to be fair to them it was impossible for 2/3 people to serve all. We were not impressed with the quality of dinner menu on our first night. So we dined elsewhere on the second night.

The location and view were superb. We enjoyed the view of Lake Windermere from the lounge inside and the garden outside. The hotel ambience was really good. The lounge, dinning and bar areas were well maintained and the garden was beautifully kept.

Very expensive , the lift was far from my room and l have to reach my room by stairs with old people with me . the hotel need some renovation many thing old and consumed ,

Service at the bar and in the restaurant could have been much better. We had to wait for service at the bar. We had to wait for service at the table (3/4 for dinner to be served on Monday night) and was sometime delivered incorrectly. Staff were always friendly and apologetic.

Reception staff were efficient and friendly. Diego was especially considerate of my needs as a disabled person.
