Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomObviously sells itself as a corporate event and wedding venue so individual customers tend to get swamped by the rest. The restaurant was good but some staff less knowledgeable than they should have been.

United KingdomI dont like paying for car parking when I am paying £140 for a room. Given where this hotel is everyone will be in a car so there is no benefit to not include it in the price as not many guests will not need parking.
The hotel is very grand, the decor will not be to everyones taste but its certainly interesting. The restaurant was ok but I felt the food was a little lacking, nice but not enough of it. Drink prices were pretty reasonable for such a large hotel.

United KingdomWoken up at 8am by a fire alarm. Only went off for about 10seconds but enough to wake us, and the iron was broken, so when Mt partner was ironing his shirt water spilled out on it and stained it.
Loved the medieval night, and the breakfast in the morning, and the suite was beautiful.

United Kingdombedroom far to dark, lighting poor. No fridge. Bar staff not trained. put loads of ICE in a white wine. also in my gin. Basic error. I told them you never put any ice in a drink without asking. Car parking charge excessive. Had to ask twice for tea at breakfast then they forgot the milk. Otherwise staff staff attentive and polite.
Reception Good. Breakfast food kept hot. Bed very good. Some staff very attentive. Bar food very good.

United KingdomThe bathroom in room 178. The two spotlights that were working were very low wattage. Add the fact another was not working, meant a very dark room. However, more importantly, the bathroom extractor fan was on constantly. Not such a problem at 4pm when distracted by general noise. But at 4am is sounded like a generator! And certainly disturbed our nights sleep. This could easily spoil someone's stay. But we didn't let it spoil ours as we only booked the one evening. If we were staying extra nights we certainly would have been forced to request maintenance take a look. Reception was busy on the Sunday and there only appeared to be junior staff on duty, so we didn't report the problem.
Setting was lovely. So unusual to witness ALL staff members being jolly, helpful and professional. Helped to set a very pleasant atmosphere. Well done. Value for money. Personally we felt you could easily add 25% possibly 50% to accommodation price's without a problem. An argument for ' selling yourselves short? '

United KingdomBest rooms are in main building. The new build rooms are okay but lack the space and light you get in the Abbey rooms. There are a lot of artificial flower arrangements but as they are higher up they don’t appear to get dusted at all, would really make a difference cleaning these even once a year.
Great Location! Staff very pleasant and helpful. Worth doing the medieval banquet. And the punting on offer is brilliant!

United KingdomI wasn't really there long enough to find anything I didn't like. The general feel of the place wasn't what I expected nor what I am used to.

United KingdomThere was very little information available in the room or the common areas about the history of Coombe Abbey. Also it is surprising that there are no spa facilities. The staff were friendly but we were overcharged on arrival and only discovered we had been charged an extra £80 for another dinner for two, when we check our bill. Also on leaving the bill was wrong as we had been charged for the dinner we had already paid for. That was refunded but once we got home we realised we had been charged twice for cheese at dinner - when we shared a plate. These mistakes took the edge off what was otherwise a pleasant stay.
