Very cramped room, minimal space for two adults. My main issue was the persistent scam and fraud emails coming from Mercure via booking.com, wanting money and early check in via links sent to guarantee to not lose the room and set time scales to do them in, they arrived piggybacked to genuine emails which were already arriving at inappropriate times (3-4.30am) and in the messaging option on bookings app itself. When I queried this with staff, I was nonchalantly brushed off as they'd reported it and to just ignore it and that it was fine!

Good location for amenities, clean, staff were polite & room well stocked

Nothing of note. Lift out of action to 1st floor on my visit, due to building works taking place.

We can hear some noise from outside but the hotel gave us earplug just in case. The mattress was a bit soft for our liking

Extractor fan inefficient making the room hot and humid after evening showers (light in bathroom left on all the time we were in room). Unable to turn the temperature down below 18 degrees made sleeping uncomfortable since the room felt so warm even with the fan on all night (no windows for safety at this hotel). Small inconveniences like discovering the body wash dispenser was empty after I had left my own in the bedroom to try it after spotting there was some in the shower. Lamp on the desk didn’t work. We also didn’t discover straight away that the main light required two switches in order to turn on which felt a bit of a faff. By the time we’d realised this I had already blow dried my hair in the dark. Bed was squeaking whenever my partner rolled over at night waking me. I didn’t think the room was worth what I had paid. Other guests were noisy but this wasn’t really the hotels fault.

Great location, decor and the Curious Tavern was cool.

The room space in the suite wasn’t what I expected looking at the pictures.. the pictures are a little misleading. The noise from floor boards above, could hear staff talking in cleaning office/room next door and conversations from above. Music from surrounding pubs.

The bathroom was a good size

The rooms lighting is very poor for doing make up. Mirror is too high on the wall to sit at the dressing table. The lights in the bathroom were not working around the mirror. The floor boards were so squeaky, every time next door went by the wardrobe would knock and rattle which disturbed us. The glasses were also not clean.

    The location was great.

Bed was very uncomfortable Pillows extremely hard Reported toilet was blocked 3 times made to feel it was a fault of my own when I explained we came and found it like that Breakfast was minimal overcooked not much choice Only food served throughout the day is pizza lift only goes to certain floors so if having breakfast you need to take the stairs The tall gay man at front desk quite unpleasant I paid for a large room with double sofa bed and got two single camp beds Can’t open a window so no air flow Room wasn’t cleaned only bins emptied upon request

Location is perfect right in the town center bus and tram stops less than a minute walk Ladies at the front desk very nice and helpful

Room was very warm and couldnt seem to get the thermostat to work properly. In hotels defence I did not chase anyone about this so unfair to say it was their fault.

Pillows far too soft, gave me neck ache!, shower cubicle quite dark and just rainfall shower , difficult if you don’t want to get your hair wet, tiny mirror at dressing table

Quirky room, like the separate room with TV and couch - could have done with table in there to put drinks on. breakfast quite good, not far from venue

The property was quirky and well presented in communal areas. Staff were very pleasant and friendly.
