Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsInteresting way of saying hello nowadays is "Hi Guys"! We are 60 so this is more familiar than expected (and my friend is not a guy! Personel is kind. Elevator seems bit undersized for this size of hotel.
Comfort and view from the room.

AustraliaThe air conditioning in our room wasn’t working and it’s south facing into the sun, so it got not. We asked the front desk to review it and get it fixed. Nothing happened. We were only there two nights so it was too late to ask for a room change 😣
Lovely location. Quaint older style historic hotel with a lovely atmosphere and good facilities in general, and good activities.

LuxembourgWhat could be an issue is the fact that the room we had was skewed.
I was positively surprised by the hotel! The building is historical and classy! The room was simple and the bed was comfortable!

United KingdomA working TV we could only get sound from a small selection of stations ,no ordinary tea bags only Earl Grey & Jasmine. Only one very small shampoo & shower gel two would have been better. Breakfast was chaotic. no butter, coffee machine had no milk , no cups, Why oh why do you put in the useless toaster that only does one side so when it is turned over the first side burns, just install better toasters. I felt very sorry for the staff who did a sterling job of clearing tables for use as people were queueing outside, Perhaps consider employing 2 extra staff ?
The room was very comfortable, plenty of storage although we were only there one night, the staff were very good, the sea facing view was relaxing.

United KingdomThe only thing was the lift, it took a long time which the hotel is aware off as there is a sign explaining about how old the lift is. We used the stairs quite often which is fine for us but might not be for some. One lot of stairs had a caution sign warning us not to use the stairs any further so we had to walk along to find the next flight going to reception.
Our room had a sea view, seemed newly refurbished and modern. Very clean and spacious. Free parking was a nice touch, just needed to sort permit at reception which was no problem.

AustraliaChairs seemed mismatched to table height and not comfortable style to eat at the tables. Menu lacking.
If coming by train need taxi from priory station about ten minutes. Good area wide street. Easy friendly check in. Lift to all rooms is very small and can only take 2 people with luggage at a time but provides minimal inconvenience. Good bright, clean, quite, comfortable rooms. This one had view of water but only this room had blocked balcony with some scaffolding under repair slightly blocking view but all other front rooms would have clear view. Good restaurant with pleasant atmosphere and small bar large seating areas in and out with view to the water. Service though friendly was slow average menu .Breakfast buffet quite satisfying. . Pleasant walk into Dover town center with a good number of varied shops and an interesting museum about 15 minutes via a pedestrian subway behind and to the right of the hotel. Can walk along the seafront and there is a small café towards the sea terminals and Dover to Calais ferry. If getting the ferry make sure you know exactly where the P&0 terminal is. From the town center if no car you can reach the Dover Castle in 10 minutes by cab and a pleasant downhill walk can bring you back to the hotel in about 30 minutes.

United KingdomJust a couple of plates and rubbish left outside rooms that we noticed on arrival and was still there the next morning and a slight funny smell down one of the stairwells but it really didn't distract too much at all from a lovely room, breakfast, reception and location. Thank you for a lovely stay xx

United KingdomNothing really from our point of view but I guess the lift near the main reception entrance might annoy some as small and slow (there's a notice by it apologising) but there was another we used once or just the stairs as being on 1st floor no problem.
Great size room and bathroom - more like a suite - may have had an upgrade from what I thought I'd booked (double room) but weren't charged any more. Buffet breakfast both hot and cold offerings extensive and freshly prepared/cooked. Staff all helpful and welcoming. Parking free in car park opposite, just need to give registration at reception on arrival. Good views across to port. Very good location for walking into Dover town centre and along front (opposite hotel). Also for White Cliffs of Dover National Trust centre then cliff walk to Fan Bay Deep Shelter and South Foreland Lighthouse. Dover Castle and Battle of Britain Museum at Hawkinge also in easy reach. Didn't use spa facilities (additional charges) so can't comment on those.
