The only down side to this place is it's location - and that is not the problem of the hotel, it is a problem for my husband who has an arthritic knee and the walk from the hotel to the town uphill is now a little much for him. Unfortunately we think this will be our last visit because of this issue of his but it has nothing to do with the hotel itself - which is fantastic.

Having been to the Chough's Nest before we knew what to expect and we were not disappointed. We were met with a cheery smile and given information about places to go for dinner that night if we wanted. The breakfasts were really good and we did not need to eat until well into the afternoon as we weren't hungry. Our room was lovely and had a double aspect, the view over the bay is fantastic. The first thing my husband did when we got to the room was open the window and listen to the sound of the sea and the birds as that is all you can hear. A lovely place to stay.

We were the only customers staying and were very well attended. We had the cooked breakfast with toast and it was superb. I asked for a room with a bath that I got, and the sea view was spectacular. Bed was comfy and the room was lovely and warm The owner was waiting for us on arrival and was very friendly

Our second out of season visit and it was as relaxing and comfortable as our first. Very friendly family run hotel- a good balance of professionalism and excellent hosting. Great breakfast and real fire in the lounge gave it a very homely feel.

The location was perfect for visiting both Lynton and Lynmouth centres. The sisters running Choughs Nest were friendly and cooked a really good breakfast and cakes. The bed in room 3 was really comfortable and the views from the room were excellent.

Perhaps too many "wing back" chairs in the lounge, reminded us a bit of a care home. Some repairs falling behind, nothing serious though.

great breakfast, beautiful location with sea views, run by same family for many years who are very welcoming. The property has some very nice period features and feels cosy, it is not a modern up to date hotel which we like. Plenty parking which is useful in Lynton.

Not a complaint just be aware it's a tight drive to get to so if you have a big car just be mindful. Also it's a steep walk up from lynmouth.

Nice and quiet. Amazing view. Friendly owners. Parking which is a rare find in the area.

There are steep hills coming up from Lynmouth. So best to drive down but benches to res on the up. A short steep walk up to Lynton take it easy. Mobile reception was poor but the hotels wifi was good.

The place was easy to find and having parking with an early check-in 14.00 was great as we could get our bags in , freshen up and still have a good part of the day to explore. We were welcomed by Rose with a welcoming smile as she was hard at work on her lovely garden. The room was huge, with a huge comfortable bed, plenty space to walk around. The shower was hot & powerful over a bath- a nice ensuite very clean as was the room. The view was something else overlooking the bay& cliffs/sea, I didn't expect such a lovely view with huge bay window. The breakfast was one of the best I've had proper full English big pot of tea with extra water. I work in construction and John's Brekfast filled me up! Fresh fruit and veggie option for my partner once she's happy I'm happy. The patio with chairs/tables were surrounded by lovely flowers with lots of little colourful birds singing away. The coastal/cliff walk about 100 yards away was all flat up to the Valley of the Rocks. Wild goats eating on the cliff was unreal walked past them no problem. A great stay four days was more like 2 weeks rest, excellent. Will be back!
