Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdomsad to leave, we will be back for certain x
Stunning location, stunning house which was a surprise to how stunning it was as the photos did not sell it to be as stunning a find when we walked in and gasped. The owner had thought of everything as if it was lovingly put together. I could have stayed forever very happily. It rained and we had the best thunderstorm and lightening display and were very cozy ! We lost power twice due to the storm, it was just very much a romantic, cozy wild weather, snug getaway. Did I mention it was stunning?! My partner used the BBQ for Tbone and fillet steaks, and watched the storm, which for me I love being in the peak district in a wild earth storm!! Stunning view, great space for the dog at the back of the house. The welcome hamper made for a very warm welcome in from the storm, thank you. We went to the cafe which was suggested and this was absolutely delicious and we will be go again.

United KingdomThe only concern I had was the missing grout in the living room tiles. I had my 2 year old little girl with me and worried about her tripping up on the gaps (as they were rather large) and landing on the hard floor or onto the corners of the furniture. It wasn't anything major and didn't take away from our experience at all. We loved everything else and could not fault the place at all. I only mention this as I think it could be a quick fix.
We loved the cottage. It was absolutely beautiful and had everything we needed. It was central to everything we wanted to visit as well, so it was perfect for location. We've already recommended it to other friends and sent them a link to booking.com.

United KingdomNothing. It was perfect for us.
A very comfortable and cosy cottage in a great location to visit and hike the best Peak District locations. I stayed with my son and 2 white German Shepherd dogs. The cottage is a good size with everything we needed, including a very good welcome pack. There is a small garden with a lovely seating area and nice views and, if like me you have dogs, there is an adding field to walk them. The location is great for visiting the main Peak District attractions. We stayed 3 days and hiked Thor's Cave, Lud's Church and Mam Tor. All within a 20 minute drive. Good local pub food completed a very idyllic stay.

United KingdomThe double beds were quite small. So I wouldn’t recommend this property for families with two teenage children as they have to share the second double bed
A lovely cottage with all that you need supplied by the owner. A very generous welcome pack with Milk, bread, butter, eggs and treats. There’s no restaurant/pub within a short/safe walk but Ashbourne is only a ten minute drive with plenty of establishments. The property is very clean and welcoming but a little on the small size for a family of four. It would be better in the warmer months as you could use the nice outside space

Orchard Barn is absolute perfection! The cottage is beautiful and welcoming and it is clear that Howard takes great pride in ensuring his guests have a comfortable and relaxing stay. The luxurious gift hamper added an extra thoughtful touch and made us all smile. The essential items that Howard also prepared for our arrival were a lovely surprise too. Howard considered our every need and these kind gestures made us feel very special and well taken care of. We stayed with our children, aged 15 years old and 13 years old, and the location is stunning. We will definitely return to Orchard Barn if our travels lead us in this direction in the future. A wonderfully peaceful place to be!
