Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyIf you are staying for just one night or a short period, or if you don't plan to cook much, this cottage has everything to make you happy, including a microwave and even an air fryer. However, if you need a stove or an oven, you will have to consider other options.
This lovely, enchanting cottage gives you the feeling of stepping into the 2006 film "The Holiday". It is quaint, very cosy and makes you feel right at home! The welcoming and hospitable owners complement the charm that this cottage radiates from every corner. We had the most amazing time, and if we ever happen to be in the area again, we would love to return with pleasure!

United KingdomDidn't appreciate how close to a busy road the premises were. However, it didn't impact on our sleep!

United KingdomUnfortunately all the bedding was feather or down which I am highly allergic too, however the owner was happy to purchase hypoallergenic bedding for me which was a lovely gesture. Nowadays although luxurious its not always the most hygienic and most people are allergic. The room although stunning is not ideal for tall people I am 5ft9 and my wife 5ft7 and we both had to duck and hunch over. A fan in the room would of been helpful too as it can get a little hot. The BlueBell room is up quite a few stairs but I am aware there are other rooms avail. The owner is very kind and generous just communicate with her and she will do her best to help.
This lovely home is beautiful with a lot of history behind it. A lot of the original wood is in place. We were welcomed by 2 large very docile doggies and the owners daughter who offered us a bottle of ice cold water to take to the room. The room was beautifully decorated and such wonderful small touches, like a variety of coffee and tea esp decaf which is not always available. Everything you need is provided for including fresh brownies and sweets. It was lush to sit outside enjoying the sun. All needs were accommodated for and the hand and body was amazing. The fairy lights throughout the room added a touch of romance and gowns avail after a gorgeous bath in the claw type tub.

On arrival we were greeted by the lovely host, and owner of Chestnut Cottage. Lis and Jay are super welcoming and friendly. We had booked 2 rooms, Chestnut (large double with en-suite shower) and Bluebell (romantic, with en-suite with free standing bath) Both rooms are gorgeous! Stylish and full of character with quality linens and furnishings, spotlessly clean and with beautiful touches like homemade brownies. A good selection of teas, coffee, cold water and even juices/cordials are supplied. Beds were super comfortable, en-suite in Chestnut is small but perfectly formed with a good power shower. This period property is a family home with the lovely hosts, family and two calm and friendly dogs living on site, it felt super calm and relaxing and still very private. We were off to an evening wedding reception at Highley Manor, and Lis kindly arranged a return taxi for us (far cheaper than we had been quoted) We would highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting Ardingly. Lovely pub The Gardeners Arm, just up the road was great for lunch and super welcoming. We also popped into the pub opposite, Ardingly Inn, for a quick drink, friendly and pleasant atmosphere with locals. We had a lovely chat with our hosts before we left and loved hearing about their journey to become guesthouse hosts and the renovations and work on this beautiful cottage. Book it! It’s a great place to stay with lovely friendly people, you won’t regret it and it’s phenomenal value. Thank you, we will be sure to return when we are next down your way!
