The place is abit of a maze and could do with some bell staff for your baggage as stairs are narrow and corridors are long.

The parking, the building and surroundings, the staff and the space in the rooms

The plug situation in the room was not good. There was one plug for the kettle, nowhere near any mirror. The plugs for the lamps were not for UK appliances. It wasn't practical. More hairdryers needed in the spa. One for the entire women's changing rooms was not enough. People saving the loungers for half an hour at a time when they were swimming, was so inconsiderate, I think the hotel should prevent this but asking people to be more considerate on checking in to the spa.

Spa facilities are lovely and a great extra. Nice hotel, clean and lovely interior. The bedroom was comfy and spacious. The bathroom was clean and huge!

Lovely room No.2 - but as directly above bar it was very loud until after closing at 11pm, which is a real shame as the more expensive suite. No drinking water in the room - very unusual for such a hotel

Friendly service at the bar for evening meal/drinks and at breakfast

Our room wasn’t cleaned to my standard, make up and eye lashes on the window sill from the previous guest’s and crumbs in the drawers. Some of the repair work that has been done is a bit shabby.

The location is great, the facilities and staff are also great. We went for our daughter’s 6th birthday, she wanted to stay in a Castle. She loved it. The grounds are well kept, the breakfast has a good selection and plenty of it. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds really comfortable. The swimming pool is a good size and the spa staff friendly. The jacuzzi was working as well this time so that was fun. It’s a 10 month drive into Chester city centre. This is our 2nd stay here this year and we will be returning.

We didn't complain but on the first night we noticed the sink and the shower were clogged , the tv in the living area wasn't working , windows frames need to be clean from the spider nets and needs fresh paint work .

The first day of our stay the breakfast was good but second day not really , seems the chef was different . The pool area was good, the bar and the little garden was a nice place to have your coffee in the morning. Staff very helpful and friendly .

On arrival we fancied some late lunch it was a beautiful day. We were told we could not eat outside in the lovely gardens as there was a wedding party on. We were guided to tables outside the spa entrance that over looked the car park. The only free table was one that had two ash trays overfilled with cigarette butt ends. Which is a bit off putting when you’re a non smoker and waiting for food.

Lovely location, close to Chester and the zoo

The breakfast was not great. Lack of choice continental, hot food didn’t look appealing and the coffee option was poor. Would expect option to order different types of coffee. Shower was poor not powerful at all even when leaving it to run first as instructed.

We had no heating in the room, we were given a fan heater but obviously we only used this while in the room which was then pretty cold each time we returned. The shower was also stone cold, I used the showers in the spa. The bedside lights sometimes worked but mostly not. We were told it was an old building so it couldn’t be helped! We live in an old property so we understand that but the staff were dismissive rather than helpful.

Good size room, good location. Lovely spa. Fair breakfast.

The only slight negative I'd give is some of the floorboards are really squeaky and need fixing, both in the corridors and in this particular case, my room as well. But the overall facilities and service you get outweighs this slight negative. I will continue to stay here.

I stay at this hotel for work when I have to go to head office, which is about 5/6 times a year. The staff are always extremely helpful, friendly and will make sure they help you out. Lady at breakfast even got some vegan sausages done for me which was brilliant.

There’s clearly some work that needs to be done re the upkeep of the property. We booked a junior suite which was good, however the sealant around the shower was chipped away - a simple job to sort. Also the ceiling clearly required painting. We had a door to our balcony which was old and rotten, needed replacing really or some TLC.

Loved the essence of the property - beautiful setting and loved the manor property itself.

£180 for two single beds to be pushed together. Expect at least a double mattress and not two singles. Light missing in the bath panel. Ceiling cracked in bathroom. Wedding on so small make shift bar used. Waiting one time over 25 minutes for a drink however the man on there was very friendly.

    Nice looking place.
