Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaNothing. We loved it all
We loved everything! The hotel itself is a gorgeous Cotswolds cosy welcoming place. Spotlessly clean throughout. Amazing Italian restaurant on-site. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Simone on reception is an absolute delight and made us feel right at home the minute we walked in.

United KingdomWiFi was frustratingly bad, very poor signal which was especially bad in our bedroom and dropped out a lot. No phone signal either so we relied on WiFi.
Lovely hotel. Staff really nice and friendly. Food at breakfast and in the evening was very nice. Such a good location for us to explore from.

United States of AmericaWe didn't expect so many tourists to be in town!
We enjoyed our stay at the Chester House, just a block from the waterway that is the centerpiece of Bourton-on-the-Water in the Cotswolds. We especially appreciated its dedicated parking area, since we arrived in a rental car on a day quite crowded with tourists and no clue where to park. The hotel was surprisingly quiet for being so close to the center, but also well-situated for walking around the quaint town and enjoying its charm. The breakfast was lovely.

AustraliaOther than the quirks of the period of the property which come part and parcel with staying in this location, there was nothing to dislike!! You just need to be aware, there are tight (with sometimes low ceilings) hallways, and narrow car parks, however very lucky to have parking
Location is amazing in the heart of Bourton-on-the-water. We enjoyed a comfortable room, clean and modern bathroom, in a great location.

NetherlandsThe rooms were a bit dated (carpet) and not great soundproofing between rooms. We unfortunately had a screaming toddler next to us that made our stay less relaxing.
Really nice stay here. Lovely staff, great breakfast, close to all of Bourton’s attractions.

United KingdomAt times we could hear noise from the kitchen through the walls. Hot taps had to be run for two or three minutes before hot water came through, but it did eventually deliver.
Our room was well appointed and had a very comfortable bed. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Location was excellent, less than a minute walk from the heart of the village.

United KingdomWe have no complaints, the staff were friendly and helpful and did all they could to make us welcome.
The breakfast was excellent. Also we ate in the restaurant both nights, which was great. Our rooms were outside, and whilst they were very good, we would have preferred rooms within the hotel as it was cold and raining.

United KingdomThe guest Wifi is very slow and keeps dropping out every few minutes making it pretty much unusable. As the mobile signal in the area is so bad it would be great if the Wifi at the hotel could be improved.
The staff are very helpful and friendly and the facilities are lovely. We used the Italian restaurant and couldnt fault the food we had. The full english breakfast was ample and perfectly presented. Our thanks to the staff for a really nice stay.
