Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAlthough our room had clearly been recently renovated, other parts of the hotel appear a little warn and in need of refurbishment, which is currently ongoing. The breakfast was disappointing, with only cold meats, cheese and cereal available, and these were limited in amount and quality. Car parking was in a public car park at an additional cost.
We had a lovely, spacious suite with a four-poster bed and awesome, modern bathroom. The location was ideal, being directly opposite Lincoln Castle and close to many bars and restaurants. Car parking was close.

United KingdomThere is no bar or restaurant in the hotel, but there are plenty of them right next door. There was a very limited choice for breakfast (not even a boiled egg), and most of the food was sweet, unhealthy.
A very good location, right next to Lincoln Castle (although the nearest entrance into the Castle is out of use). An elegant historic building and interiors with some character.

United KingdomWell I really enjoyed my stay so to find a fault is quite difficult,my only downside to my stay was the noise from the tapas place across from the hotel.
Having stayed several times before I knew the breakfast was continental and to be honest it was terrible,so we've avoided booking.we booked with that in mind and I have to say the breakfast was AMAZING.

United KingdomOur room was on the courtyard and it was quite noisy until late Sadly the tea/coffee facilities were not good! Coffee bags cheap tea with not enough milk or sugar The tv signal was terrible The breakfast was continental only, although we received a 10% discount in the cafe accross the road it would have been nice to have a decent breakfast included
The property was perfectly situated central for our day out, nice and clean and a comfy bed. The lady in reception was very helpful and lovely

United KingdomBedroom suite was very dated.....there are some nice features and it was very spacious but a lot of chipped paint and stained worn furniture. Huge 4 poster bed....the quilt only just touched the edges. Breakfast is continental but a very limited choice. Hotel was quiet,, probably due to it being midweek. I understand it is due an update this year under new management, keeping it's 1920's theme....... hopefully it becomes more inviting. Feels a bit empty and unloved at the moment.
Good location. Pay & display car park right outside. Suite a great size..

United KingdomParts of the hotel are looking tired & in need of a revamp. The windows are rotten & some are about to fall out .We were in the suite that overlooked the back of Ole Ole and the staff were making a noise beneath our window which kept us awake until late - so some courtesy from these people going forward would be an improvement. The continental breakfast was below average - hard croissants that had been allowed to dry out. There are 14 rooms not all occupied on our visit.
Excellent parking & close to all the main attractions the cathedral quarter has to offer. Impressive orangery & toilets. The staff were very accommodating .

United KingdomI understand that the hotel is being refurbished - it was previously a nursing home and clearly the occupants took a fairly cavalier attitude to their rooms (this was however reflected in the price). Could have done without the empty beer bottle behind the sofa and the non working "pop up" bath plug.
Very good location next to the castle, friendly reception, "continental" breakfast was more extensive than we expected. Ground floor has been redecorated in keeping with the architecture & history of the building.

IrelandThe breakfast was only a continental one so we went across the way to the cafe which is owned by the hotel. We received a 10% discount voucher
The staff were very friendly. The bed was very uncomfortable and we asked if they could do something about it. The next day they changed the mattress for a new one which was perfect.

United KingdomCar parking was a little difficult but we managed to squeeze in.
The hotel was brilliantly located with 2 lively Public Houses, an Indian and Spanish restaurant within 100 yards. It was only a short walk into Lincoln town centre and the quayside. The cafe in the courtyard was owned by the hotel and provided a good cooked breakfast at a reasonable price. The receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful. The furniture in the room was old fashioned but this is exactly what we like in a hotel room. All in all this hotel was an excellent choice.
