Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

My Brother and my sister in law went on a three day trip to London. The Personal and the price have been okay. The location was near the underground station so that you can go everywhere. The room was clean.

SpainThe location isn't great, there's no tube station nearby (just the Hoxton overground), the bed was against the wall which was uncomfortable for a couple, the room smelled funny and seemed extremely old, lots of noise coming in from the street.
The room was long and with a closet, there was heat and aircon controls available, chocolate at the front desk was a sweet treat, 24 hour reception and luggage storage available.

Great location right next to bus stop, a great bakery and a grocery store. Nice, friendly, and helpful staff. Quite a large room, cleanliness was quite good.

United KingdomStayed in one of the ground floor converted rooms which have no windows at all. This has the advantage of no traffic noise but the walls are pretty thin and you can hear other guests in the adjacent rooms.
Location (on the main street, close to overground station) excellent, reception staffed 24/7, room small but has everything you need (including A/C), well prepared and clean, good value for London

Good value for money. It's one of the more affordable options in London, with a good location—there’s a bus stop right outside, and it's just a 20-minute walk to Liverpool Street Station. Plenty of restaurants, cafés, and supermarkets are nearby, which is very convenient. The check-in process was quick and easy, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

AustraliaI should have double checked but some rooms don’t have a window. Although not a bad thing, the room was still nice, just be aware that some rooms don’t have windows.
Great location with a bus stop right outside to get to tube locations and tours areas easy and quickly. Friendly staff. Easy luggage storage and check in. Great option if you don’t want to spend too much but don’t like hostels.

NetherlandsIt is basic and not romantic. But it was exactly what we paid for so I can't fault the property on this.
The room was clean. It was very basic but for the area, it was worth the price you pay. Don't expect anything fancy, but it's fine to just spend one night in Shoreditch where you will probably mostly spend your time out of the room anyway.
