Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We’re currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil, and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomPrice - 330.00 overnight charge with no breakfast and additional 25.00 to park seemed expensive and non competitive with other hotels locally avaible
Didn’t have breakfast as 50.00 for 2 seemed a little excessive and had a nice breakfast close to hotel for half the price. The staff were very friendly professional and helpful particular the door men who helped with parking. The room was huge for a city centre hotel and very comfortable with small details appreciated like Milton brown toiletries and Yorkshire shortbread fab bathroom too

United KingdomNothing, we had awonderful stay.
Beautiful hotel. On arrival, we were checked in by the manager who very kindly allowed us to check in early as 2 of our rooms were ready. The hotel is right across the road from the train station so very easy to get to. Always at least two members of staff available for anything you may need at the desk. All staff were very polite and very professional. The concierge were fantastic they even gave out umbrellas to use on one of our days that was raining.

United KingdomThe room and bed could have been much better. They were clean and the facilities were good, but for a 5 star hotel and the cost per night for our room, many of the features fell short for me. The bed was a little lumpy and not very big. We're used to a super-king, so this felt very small for us and the mattress wasn't great at all. The pillows were massive and we didn't sleep very well at all on the first night. We asked for smaller pillows which would better support our necks and they replaced them no problems, but they weren't much better. Our air con fan in the bathroom stayed on constantly and was quite noisy. One final thing was the heated towel rail only functioned if you had the heating on and our room was fairly warm during our 3 night stay, so we didn't heat the room at all, which made our wet swimming clothes damp for the next day. These are really small inconveniences, but these tiny improvements would have got 10 out of 10 in all categories.
The staff and general welcome were exceptional. The facilities and the food were all 5 star. We were travelling by train so this made the location of this 5 star hotel an excellent choice for us as it's an easy 2 minute walk from the station. The evening dinner we had in the hotels 'Rise' restaurant was superb. Both my wife and I loved every course and whilst is was quite expensive, we didn't mind, as we were celebrating and it was well above the average.

United KingdomTV in the room had a “weak/no signal” message for majority of channels available. We did report it & we were told it was a known issue. It was not resolved during our 3 night stay.
Beautiful hotel close to everything you need to see in York. Grand by name & Grand by nature

United KingdomI didn’t like the fact that it was a buffet breakfast. At £300+ for one night, I expected service at breakfast rather than serve myself which was really disappointing. The breakfast table was sticky. There was a smell of burnt toast in the air. It was a shame that this 5* hotel had the breakfast experience of any other hotel when it should have felt “grand!”
Great location. Stunning hotel. Upgraded room so really pleased with that! Had drinks in the bar. Staff were really lovely.

United KingdomRoom was excellent. The birthday package I had requested for my partner was simply amazing, which included personalised balloons, chocolates, flowers, prosecco, and a Happy Birthday Message. Afternoon tea was great value for money with being able to have unlimited tea and coffee. The spa facility was also good but at times got too busy. In-room breakfast was very good and the menu had a good selection to choose from

United KingdomIt cannot be faulted. But if I would to fault it for 1 reason it would be to allow me to stay in their spa for more than 1 hour. Then If they did that I would probably have to complain as there were too many people there.
Excellent. I cannot fault this hotel. We had that special meal in the restaurant. It was expensive but it was top cooking from a top chef and I would pay the same again. Highly recommended.

United States of Americanothing - I highly recommend
Comfy bed, well appointed, modern, nice bathroom. I especially loved the big bottles of shampoo and bath gel - love the eco of it all. I love the extra pillows they have in the closets.they also have a Nespresso and tea. I didn't use but their room service menu looked very good too. Beautiful hotel! Was originally headquaters for a bank - our room was very nice, I think it was in an add on building - very clean. Super close to the train station - you walk out, turn left, First stoplight you turn right and run into the hotel. Maybe 5 minutes inside the wall so it's a close walk to historic city center, many restaurants. We ate that The Ivy, the shepard's pie was delicious. They offer afternoon tea but I didn't get a chance to try it- the restaurant is beautiful and majestic as well. I highly recommend staying here.
