Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNothing, everything was great!
I love the location of Cathleen’s cottage. It’s so peaceful and surrounded by beautiful scenery. The sheep in the next field were also lovely to watch. The garden is nice and secure and our dogs loved exploring it. The house was also spotlessly clean and very comfortable. I like that Cathleen’s cottage is central to lots of nice places to visit, both in Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland. Can’t wait to return!

IrelandWe have no complaints. Everything was fab!
A beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Very spacious, clean and modern. Caroline had a lovely welcome basket for us and everything we needed was there. The log fire was much needed and appreciated given that we stayed in February. I would highly recommend staying here if you like to explore the hikes nearby as everything was easy to get to from here.

This was our 4th stay at Cathleen’s cottage, we love it as it feels like a home away from home. The location is perfect, so peaceful and quiet and the views are lovely. The cottage is very comfortable and has a great outdoor space which our dogs love. The Christmas tree and decorations were a lovely addition to this stay!

Cathleen’s Cottage was very clean and comfortable with stunning uninterrupted views. Great base for exploring the Mournes and surrounding areas. The outdoor space was perfect, nice areas to sit and watch the sunset and our dogs loved playing in the large enclosed garden. Hope to return for a 4th visit later in the year!

United KingdomPulling my car out onto the road , due to garden walls being right at edge of road there is no vision of oncoming traffic in either direction. I found it very dangerous, definitely need a couple of traffic mirrors other side of road for safety. Couldn't find a hoover ? Mattresses need upgrading , not very comfortable.
The location, very quiet and peaceful. Dog proof garden for my 14 year old fella. Very efficient and comfortable heating system.

United KingdomNot so much not "liking" but rather suggesting the option of twin beds instead of a double bed would be more beneficial for guests/families where sharing same bed is not ideal or perhaps appropriate. Will not say there was no freezer but could not locate one, although for short stays may be deemed unnecessary.
Great outdoor space for children to play safely. Pet friendly is a major plus. Felt like a home to unwind and relax and enjoy the tranquil location. Spacious bedrooms and spotlessly clean throughout. Welcome pack on arrival was a nice touch as were the "mountain" of available towels. Would definitely consider a future visit.

United KingdomWe wish we had of booked it for longer but there's always next time.
Just back from an amazing stay at Cathleens Cottage, everything was exceptional from start to finish. Caroline the host was very attentive throughout our stay and the welcome basket she provided was such a lovely surprise. The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Every window had the most beautiful views and we were lucky that the weather was perfect to sit out and enjoy a BBQ at the picnic table. The cottage was the ideal base to explore the Mournes and surrounding areas and we were also able to bring along our beloved dog which was brilliant as he enjoyed it as much as we did.

United KingdomNothing, didn't like leaving
Loved everything about this cottage, the views are great, even in January you could tell they get some amazing sunsets from the back of the house. Fire was great, everything so clean and our wee dog had a ball having the run of the large garden at front. Would recommend for a nice relaxing break, with good access to The Mournes.

United KingdomCathleen’s Cottage was spotless. Everything that we needed was there along with a lovely welcome basket provided by Caroline. The cottage is an excellent base for exploring the surrounding attractions and we used the tourism leaflets that were provided to help us decide what to explore, great for exploring not only Newry & Mourne but also for a trip to Dundalk and surrounding areas. It’s a home from home and would highly recommend that you give this cottage a try ❤️

The host let us know all information we needed the day before arrival, we really appreciated the little welcome gift! The open fire was lovely and kept us lovely and cosy! We will definitely be back sometime, might even be our yearly get away with the kids 😁
