Central location right on the Cam . Lovely outdoor dining area . Great breakfast. Good range of dining options. Clean and comfortable.

It's nothing really but as old people we have to get up in the night and so leave the bathroom light on. The sidelights in the bathroom were not isolated and there was a glass door, so the room was never really dark. But it wouldn't put us off going again.

Staff were wonderful. The pool was nice. The grounds were marvellous and location superb.

I was not part of the wedding party, however they gave me a room right above the function suite, where I could hear every record right until it finished. Going forward, I think they should be mindful about perhaps only checking-in the wedding guests into those rooms. I did mention this on checking-out and they kindly refunded my car parking, which I was very happy about.

As a group of 4 staying in one room we felt it was a mirror in the bedroom area but otherwise a fantastic stay.

It’s quirky and traditional feel but it felt really well maintained and quite luxurious in most places. We loved the cambridge iconic decor, especially in reception.

Given a very Large bed but I found it too soft with a huge floppy duvet - generally uncomfortable. Mixed service for breakfast which was a sad ending to a short stay. Bar menu changed- not enough choice of small plates eg Welsh Rarebit, humous ( used to be on menu. Very expensive drinks

Has a mind bending few minutes trying to turn lights out when going to bed. Ended up turning the main switch off. Also aircon/heating wouldn't turn on, fortunately not desperate to use this. Also powdered milk doesn't work in tea.

Staff were unfailingly helpful and nice. The room was amazing with view over the river. Location is perfect for town. Will happily return

The staff was not very communicative about the amenities on site so I did not know about the hours or location in the breakfast or fitness center. The room was a bit noisy from street noise early in the morning.

The room and bedding were comfortable and more spacious than expected. The breakfast was tasty and the location was convenient.

Decor in room a little tired. Had to have engineer fix TV which did then cast perfectly.

Brilliant location for us - steps away to punting and the centre of town (which was important since our group ranged in age from 2 to 81). Helpful staff. Comfortable beds. Enormous cot for the bub. On site parking a big plus, too.

Location is perfect - a quick walk into town and right on the river. The room was huge, well stocked with beautiful decor. It was really clean. The bar and restaurant looked cool though didn't actually eat or drink there. Really recommend as a base for visiting Cambridge.

We stayed 5 nights with our young children and felt there could be substantial improvements in staff approach to customer care. We choose the hotel for the location but also for the swimming pool as this is a priority when we travel with our kids. They loved swimming daily before or after our daily activity so we choose it over cheaper alternatives for this reason. Therefore we were horrified when we were told at check-in that the kids (and therefore us by default) would only be able use the pool between 10-6 which meant we only used it twice during our stay. This isn’t mentioned in any of the advertising and I’ve only experienced this previously in very high-end spa facilities. Even 9-7 would have been more workable to enable a swim before or after daily plans. We complained strongly at check-in and were told it would be considered by the management but no response provided. The swimming pool is very small and it is clear locals can use it as members so I can see why they do this but they need to decide where their priorities are and also advertise transparently. My kids were also excited to see the mat for the outdoor chess set when we arrived but we were told it was only used for special events. Staff appeared to be managed in such a way that they had no capacity to respond to customer requests and provide the care that you would expect in a hotel of this calibre, instead they tended to stick rigidly to processes. For example I observed a family one evening sitting at a table in the garden who had ordered a full round of drinks. At that stage the sun was only on about half the garden and their table was within that section. They requested a plate of chips to share with their drinks and they were told they could only have them if they moved to the other end of the garden to the restaurant section and therefore completely out of the sun- again a simple opportunity to provide stellar customer experience hampered by adherence to arbitrary processes.

The location is excellent and the decor beautiful. We had a river view room and it was wonderful to be able to look out and see all the activity on the river. Being able to enjoy sunny evenings on deck chairs in the garden was also very pleasant. The breakfast was very good, with an excellent variety of items and high quality.

On the third day, our room wasn’t cleaned so had to request fresh towels etc..

Great location for the city centre and lovely views from the room onto the river. Lots of onsite parking available, although this was expensive. Room quiet and well furnished. Breakfast great and staff were helpful and friendly.
