Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe dining room service was slow and in attentive. The 'music' was too loud and jarring, and unnecessary. The staff wore noisy clodd hopping shoes.
Breakfast - fried egg not available because something had broken down. Service very slow. Room good. Dinner good.

United KingdomOur room was definitely “cosy”. It was very small for the price. Most of the room on the dresser was taken up by a kettle, coffee machine, cups and the selection of tea and coffee. A bit too much, kettle or coffee machine. Both not needed.
It was beautiful, with lovely surroundings. The deer out the front and being able to sit and watch them.

United KingdomSome bar staff were not as attentive to detail and quality that you would expect from a hotel like this.
The room and the views across the estate were both great. The evening meal in the restaurant was very good, as was breakfast.

United KingdomThe evening restaurant was not quite as expected. Staff were not very attentive and having booked ahead for a table, therefore hoping for a nice table we were offered a tiny table initially as it was pretty much sit where there is a free table. The restaurant food was nice but the portions far too small, vegetables very sparse and the price was high. So very disappointing for a country hotel. In fact the following night we resorted to the local pub to avoid hunger and there were other guests from the hotel doing the same! In case you think I’m a big person I’m not! I’m 5ft size 6 and I eat a healthy balanced diet!! Give a bit more and you’ll maybe find those staying more than one night will eat in other evenings as well…. Breakfast in contrast was excellent thank you.
Bedroom was excellent size and the bed very comfortable. Nice location. Reception and cleaning staff were very helpful and friendly.

United KingdomThere was no wifi in the room as we were in attic - appreciate it’s an old building but I’m sure some extenders would help. We had no signal (EE) so that made it more apparent. Our room wasn’t cleaned, even though we only popped back in the day for an hour. We got back at 9pm so was too late to rectify sadly although we did get our water replenished, which was nice. The staff were lovely and so helpful, but seemed stretched capacity wise at breakfast. Only little things but not what I’d expect with the room rate and a great shame when such a lot of effort has been put in.
Beautiful building, excellent espresso martinis, friendly staff, great pre-arrival email. The location is amazing - Burley is lovely.

United KingdomThe room seemed a bit battered and needed redecorating, but there were signs around stating that there were works being carried out. The room service tablet is a good idea, if they actually stick to it. They tried to overcharge me by sending me more than I had ordered (I did not consume it because I hadn't ordered it), and this was slightly rectified in the morning but not completely. On my arrival I was slightly early as I had been in Burley that morning, I asked if it was ok for me to wait in the lounge until my room was available, they stated that it was ready but hadn't mentioned the early check in charge until I checked out the next day and it was added to my bill. I'm glad that I didn't hand my card details to them on check in because otherwise I would not have been able to check the extra charges. I was happy to pay the early check in, but this is something that needs to be made abundantly clear on arrival.
Overlooking the grounds was lovely, especially when the deer came across in the morning. The dinner was amazing, I was a bit anxious about the price but the quality made up for it and the service was fantastic. There is some seating out the front which is lovely in the early evening and quiet as the manor is off the main road down a long drive.

United KingdomWhen we visited before we were provided with a lovely complimentary hamper with snacks I thought this was a lovely touch, sad it wasn’t provided this time. The bar man was quite grumpy, and every cocktail me and my husband wanted to order was apparently Sold out ……. (Disappointing) The food was also very bland.

United KingdomThe water ran cold in our room on the first day of our stay. We had a lukewarm bath. We then had to change rooms for the second night. It was lovely to be upgraded but annoying to have to repack and move.
The location was peaceful and stunning. Well sited for exploring the area. Plenty of lounges and places to relax,
