Nothing to dislike

Genuine sense of luxury in a beautiful Art Deco Hotel unique in so many ways not least the sea tractor . Totally attentive staff from start to finish of our stay.

One minor point; we stayed in the artists studio. Lighting was either v bright or not bright enough ( bedside lights.) Also it wasn’t possible to dry hair anywhere near a mirror but everything perfect apart from that.

It's our second time and definitely not the last one. One might love the location, the history, or the food - which is amazing - but the major plus point of this hotel is its staff. Everyone we met was so helpful and pleasant, and they all did their best to make our stay wonderful.

The only downside was the maintenance work which was being carried out. We had been warned about it prior to attending and was assured the scaffolding wouldn't spoil our sea views from our suite and to be fair it didn't as it stopped short of our windows but it did spoil the overall look of the hotel The only issue was when the workman were erecting the scaffolding on the roof above us the noise from the ratchet guns drove us out our suite for a couple of hours. Hopefully the work will ensure the hotel is looking its best for a future return visit.

The attention to detail in the decor and surroundings is spot on. The staff were attententive but not over bearing and were willing to assist whenever approached. The food is excellent and locally sourced wherever possible. A ride on the Sea tractor is a must and also gives a different view of the island and the surrounding area.

The restaurant did their best to accommodate our allergies.

An amazons 1920s era hotel that has retained its charm even with all the new mod cons. The staff were welcoming and friendly from the minute we stepped into the Landrover to get ferried over to the island. Even in bad weather it was so perfect to cosy up with a book and watch the rain on the grey sea.

Although my wife really enjoyed her meal in the grand ballroom, my steak, albeit well cooked, was a little dry.

Burgh Island Hotel is a bit of a one off. Locked and dressed in the Art Deco style. If you need more info, just google.

I am a sea swimmer, and really was looking forward to the Mermaid pool, the natural bay, to swim there. It was closed off to the public. So very disappointed about that. Also after an exhausting long journey from Hastings, and a broken back car windscreen, I just wanted to get to the rooms ASAP. Then dip in the sea. Which I did when the tide came in in front of hotel, about an hour later. We had a very lengthy talk from your guest coordinator, the minute we arrived, when all I wanted to do was rest and swim....... I think the "Talk" could be moved to at least an hour or so later "AFTER" having moved into our rooms. We also ended up taking our own luggage as waited for ages, for it to be brought up.

The Hotel was Wonderful. The dinner superb. Our stay for our 25th Silver Anniversary was memorable and great to share it with our family from New Zealand. We all had a wonderful time. would LOVE to come again.

We ordered drinks and food whilst waiting fir our room, after 40 minutes of waiting in scorching heat we had to ask for them again!
